1 Information on the operating instructions

These operating instructions apply for the EVO9/EVO9SP/EVO9HT application tool only. Please

read these instructions carefully and ensure that they are understood by any persons using the

application tool.

Within this document, you will ﬁnd images illustrating best practice guidelines for operating and

maintaining the application tool, along with contact details for your local HellermannTyton country

representative.

2 Intended use

The EVO9/EVO9SP/EVO9HT tool is intended for the application of both inside-serrated and

outside-serrated nylon cable ties.

We are not liable for any damage and claims arising from the improper operation or use of the

cable tie installation tool, nor are we responsible for any damages caused by defects resulting from

inappropriate or unsuitable use of the tool, incorrect or careless treatment, normal wear and tear

as well as any modiﬁcations made to the tool by the customer of a third party.

The warranty/repair by HellermannTyton does not include the rectiﬁcation of faults that results

from force majeure, external inﬂuences, customer neglect (e.g. modiﬁcations or attachments,

application errors etc.) or the inﬂuence of third parties. The replacement of worn parts or spare

parts during or after maintenance work carried out according to HellermannTyton instructions is

also not included.

The application tool must only be operated when in a technically sound condition.

3 Representation and layout of warning instructions

The hazard level with the associated warning symbol and explanation are illustrated below:

4 Initial operation

The application tool can be used immediately.

fTake the application tool out of the packaging and check it for damage. If damaged, inform the

supplier in writing immediately.

CAUTION

There is a risk of injury when pulling the trigger and tightening the cable tie, or when using unsuitable

cable ties.

fAlways use safety glasses during work.

fWhen pulling the trigger, make sure that no limbs are between the hand lever and handle.

fWhen working above head level, attach a safety cord to the hanging loop at the bottom of the handle.

fUse only HellermannTyton nylon cable ties.

fIf necessary, attach a retaining strap to the hanging loop 6 (Figure A).

fSet the desired tension force (see section "Pulling force").

fWrap the cable tie 1 (Figure B) around the cable bundle.

fPull the strap end 2 of the cable tie through the head 3 of the cable tie.

fTighten the cable tie by hand so that the cable tie rests tightly against the cable bundle.

fPush the open end of the nose piece 1 (Figure A) over the end of the strap.

fPlace the front of the nose piece at a right angle and ﬂush to the head of the cable tie.

fKeep pressing the trigger 7 until the end of the strap is cut off.

7 Tension force

The tension force that the application tool uses to pull on the cable ties can be set using the

adjustment dial 5 (Figure A).

Quick adjustment (Figure I and J )

7.1 Recommended tension force

The following formula can be used as guideline for the recommended tension force on the

application tool.

Minimum tensile

strength = recommended tension force

The minimum tensile strength is the force that the cable tie can withstand before it deforms or

tears (see cable tie technical speciﬁcations).

7.2 Adjustment lock

NOTE

The quick adjustment is possible even when the adjustment lock is activated.

The adjustment lock prevents unintentional adjustment of the tension force.

fUsing a T8 Torx screwdriver, unscrew the screw 1 (Figure C ) of the adjustment lock from

position 2 .

fScrew the screw 1 back in front of the thumb lever in position 2 (Figure D ).

7.3 Setting the tension force via the adjustment dial

The tension force is selected in N (Newton) using the tension force scale.

fPress the thumb lever 3 (Figure A) to the front in the direction of the arrow and hold it pressed in

this position.

fUsing the adjustment dial 5, set the desired value on the tension force scale 4.

fLet go of the thumb lever.

The tension forces speciﬁed are only general reference values. Due to the diversity of possible

inﬂuences during processing and use, we recommend to check the tension cut off forces with a

conventional force meter (frequency of the data recording should be at least 2 kHz).

7.4 Setting the tension force using the quick adjustment

The tension force can also be adjusted using the quick adjustment (Figures I and J ). The quick

adjustment can set the tension force at three levels.

Example: Begin with the adjustment of the dial in position 1, then the following positions 4 and

fTurn the adjustment dial 1 (Figure I ), without actuating the thumb lever, to set the required

tension force.

fRead the set tension force on the tension force scale of the adjustment dial 1 (Figure J ).

7.5 Fine adjustment of the tension force using the CALTOOL

Fine or readjustment is possible using the accessory part CALTOOL. The factory setting (Setting

0-8) is changed (see table in "Setting the tension force using the adjustment dial").

fInsert the wide side of the CALTOOL 2 (Figure E ) in the three recesses of the adjustment dial 1 .

fDial the CALTOOL anti-clockwise to undo the cap.

fRemove the cap from the adjustment dial.

fInsert the narrow side of the CALTOOL 2 (Figure F ) into the adjustment unit 1 .

Both tips of the CALTOOL must engage in the recesses of the adjustment unit.

fTurn the CALTOOL clockwise to increase the tension force or counter-clockwise to reduce the

tension force.

fReplace the cap back.

fTurn the CALTOOL clockwise to tighten the cap.

8 Maintenance

The application tool is largely maintenance-free.

9 Repairs

NOTE

The application tool can be damaged when opening the housing, making changes to the components or if

repairs are carried out incorrectly.

fTool only to be repaired by authorised personnel.

Repair work must only be carried out by the manufacturer or persons authorised by the

manufacturer. This also includes opening the application tool and changing components or

functions.

Taking out of operation

9.1 Replacing the blade

The blade should always be changed when the cable tie can no longer be cut-off neatly or easily.

CAUTION

The blade is sharp and could cause injury.

fUnscrew the nose piece screw 1 (Figure G ) with a screwdriver.

fRemove the nose piece 2 .

fCarefully remove the blade 3 .

fInsert a new and undamaged knife of the same size and design (see section "Spare parts and

accessories"). Observe the correct installation direction.

The installation direction is indicated by the bevelled corner 1 (Figure H ).

fReplace the nose piece.

fTighten the screw for the blade holder.

10 Taking out of operation

When used for its intended purpose, the application tool will perform continuously without issues.

Should the application tool need to be withdrawn from operation, it must be disposed of correctly

in accordance with the country-speciﬁc disposal guidelines.

11 Spare parts and accessories

NOTE

The use of spare parts and accessories not approved by the manufacturer may lead to damage of the

application tool.

fUse only approved spare parts and accessories otherwise warranty claims shall be rendered void.

Spare parts and accessories can be procured direct from the respective HellermannTyton country

representative.

1 Hinweise zur Betriebsanleitung

Diese Betriebsanleitung gilt ausschließlich für das Verarbeitungswerkzeug

EVO9/EVO9SP/EVO9HT und richtet sich an den Benutzer. Dieser muss die Betriebsanleitung vor

der Inbetriebnahme des Verarbeitungswerkzeuges aufmerksam lesen und verstehen.

In der Betriebsanleitung beﬁnden sich Graﬁken zur Bedienung und Wartung des

Verarbeitungswerkzeuges und die Adressen der jeweiligen Ländervertretungen von

HellermannTyton.

2 Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung

Das Verarbeitungswerkzeug EVO9/EVO9SP/EVO9HT dient der Applikation von innenverzahnten

und außenverzahnten Kabelbindern aus Kunststoff.

Das Verwenden von nicht geeigneten Kabelbindern (z. B. aus Metall) und das Verändern des

Verarbeitungswerkzeuges ist nicht bestimmungsgemäß.

Wir haften nicht für Fehler und deren Folgen, welche auf Verletzung von Bedienungs-, Wartungs-

und Austauschvorschriften, ungeeignete oder unsachgemäße Verwendung, fehlerhafte oder

nachlässige Behandlung und natürlichen Verschleiß sowie vorgenommene Eingriffe in das

Werkzeug zurückzuführen sind.

Die Gewährleistung/Instandsetzung durch HellermannTyton umfasst nicht die Beseitigung von

Fehlern, die durch höhere Gewalt, äußere Einwirkung, Verschulden des Kunden (Um- oder

Anbauten, Anwendungsfehler etc.) oder Einwirkung Dritter entstanden sind. Nicht inbegriffen ist

ferner der Ersatz von Verschleißteilen sowie der Ersatz von Ersatzteilen im Rahmen der von oder

nach Bedienanleitung von HellermannTyton ausgeführten Wartung.

Das Verarbeitungswerkzeug darf nur in technisch einwandfreiem Zustand verwendet werden.

4 Inbetriebnahme

Das Verarbeitungswerkzeug kann sofort eingesetzt werden.

fNehmen Sie das Verarbeitungswerkzeug aus der Verpackung und überprüfen Sie es auf

Beschädigungen. Teilen Sie Beschädigungen dem Lieferanten umgehend schriftlich mit.

6 Verwendung des Verarbeitungswerkzeuges

VORSICHT

Beim Betätigen des Handhebels und Festziehen des Kabelbinders oder dem Verwenden von ungeeigneten

Kabelbindern besteht Verletzungsgefahr.

fTragen Sie während der Arbeiten immer eine Schutzbrille.

fStellen Sie sicher, dass sich beim Betätigen des Handhebels keine Gliedmaßen zwischen Handhebel und

Griff beﬁnden.

fBenutzen Sie bei Arbeiten über Kopf ein Halteband an der Öse unterhalb des Griffs.

fVerwenden Sie ausschließlich HellermannTyton-Kabelbinder aus Kunststoff.

fBefestigen Sie ggf. ein Halteband an der Öse 6 (Abbildung A ).

fStellen Sie die gewünschte Zugkraft ein (siehe Abschnitt „Zugkraft“).

fLegen Sie einen Kabelbinder 1 (Abbildung B ) um das Kabelbündel.

fZiehen Sie das Bandende 2 des Kabelbinders durch den Kopf 3 des Kabelbinders.

fZiehen Sie den Kabelbinder von Hand so an, dass der Kabelbinder fest um das Kabelbündel liegt.

fSchieben Sie die offene Seite der Stirnkappe 1 (Abbildung A ) über das Bandende.

fHalten Sie die Stirnkappe rechtwinklig und bündig an den Kopf des Kabelbinders.

Zugkraft

7 Zugkraft

Die Zugkraft, mit der das Verarbeitungswerkzeug den Kabelbinder anzieht, kann über den

Drehknopf 5 (Abbildung A ) eingestellt werden.

Schnellverstellung (Abbildung I und J )

7.1 Empfohlene Zugkraftberechnung

Folgende Formel kann als Richtlinie für die empfohlene Zugkraft am Verarbeitungswerkzeug

genutzt werden:

Mindesthaltekraft = empfohlene Zugkraft

Die Mindesthaltekraft ist die Kraft, die der Kabelbinder standhält, bevor er sich verformt oder reißt

(siehe technische Angaben Kabelbinder).

7.2 Verstellsicherung

HINWEIS

Die Schnellverstellung ist auch mit aktivierter Verstellsicherung möglich.

Die Verstellsicherung verhindert ein unabsichtliches Verstellen der Zugkraft.

fDrehen Sie die Schraube 1 (Abbildung C ) der Verstellsicherung aus Position 2 mit einem Torx-

Schraubendreher T8 heraus.

fDrehen Sie die Schraube 1 vor der Arretierung in Position 2 (Abbildung D ) wieder ein.

7.3 Zugkraft über den Drehknopf einstellen

Anhand der Zugkraftskala wird die Zugkraft in N (Newton) ausgewählt.

fDrücken Sie die Arretierung 3 (Abbildung A ) in Pfeilrichtung nach vorne und halten Sie sie in

dieser Position gedrückt.

fStellen Sie mit dem Drehknopf 5 den auf der Zugkraftskala 4 gewünschten Wert ein.

fLassen Sie die Arretierung los.

Die angegebenen Zugkraftwerte sind lediglich allgemeine Richtwerte. Wegen der Vielfalt

möglicher Einﬂüsse bei der Verarbeitung und Verwendung empfehlen wir, die Zugwerte mit einem

gängigen Kraftmesser (Frequenz der Datenerfassung sollte min. 2 kHz sein) zu überprüfen.

7.4 Zugkraft über die Schnellverstellung einstellen

Die Zugkraft kann auch über die Schnellverstellung (Abbildung I und J ) eingestellt werden. Die

Schnellverstellung der Zugkraft erfolgt in drei Stufen.

Beispiel: Beginnen Sie mit dem Verstellen der Drehknopfes in der Position 1, so sind die beiden

nachfolgenden Positionen 4 und 7.

fDrehen Sie den Drehknopf 1 (Abbildung I ), ohne die Arretierung zu betätigen, um die

gewünschte Zugkraft einzustellen.

fLesen Sie die eingestellte Zugkraft auf Zugkraftskala vom Drehknopf 1 (Abbildung J ) ab.

7.5 Zugkraft über das CALTOOL feineinstellen

Fein- bzw. Nachjustierungen sind über das Zubehörteil CALTOOL möglich. Die Werkseinstellung

(Setting 0-8) wird verändert (siehe Tabelle in „Zugkraft über den Drehknopf einstellen“).

fStecken Sie die breite Seite des CALTOOL 2 (Abbildung E ) in die drei Vertiefungen des

Drehknopfs 1 .

fDrehen Sie das CALTOOL entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn, um die Kappe zu lösen.

fEntfernen Sie die Kappe vom Drehknopf.

fStecken Sie die schmale Seite des CALTOOL 2 (Abbildung F ) in die Verstelleinheit 1 .

Beide Spitzen des CALTOOL müssen in die Vertiefungen der Verstelleinheit greifen.

fDrehen Sie das CALTOOL im Uhrzeigersinn, um die Zugkraft zu erhöhen oder entgegen dem

Uhrzeigersinn, um die Zugkraft zu verringern.

fSetzen Sie die Kappe wieder ein.

fDrehen Sie das CALTOOL im Uhrzeigersinn, um die Kappe festzudrehen.

8 Wartung

Das Verarbeitungswerkzeug ist weitestgehend wartungsfrei.

9 Reparaturen

HINWEIS

Das Verarbeitungswerkzeug kann durch Öffnen des Gehäuses oder Verändern der Bauteile bzw. durch

unsachgemäß durchgeführte Reparaturen beschädigt werden.

fLassen Sie das Verarbeitungswerkzeug ausschließlich durch autorisiertes Personal reparieren.

Reparaturarbeiten dürfen nur vom Hersteller bzw. durch eine vom Hersteller autorisierte Person

durchgeführt werden. Dazu gehört auch das Öffnen des Verarbeitungswerkzeuges und das

Verändern von Bauteilen bzw. Funktionen.

Außerbetriebnahme

9.1 Messerwechsel

Das Messer sollte immer dann gewechselt werden, wenn die Kabelbinder nicht mehr sauber und

leicht abgeschnitten werden können.

VORSICHT

Die Schneide des Messers ist scharf und kann zu Verletzungen führen.

fDrehen Sie die Stirnkappenschraube 1 (Abbildung G ) mit einem Schraubendreher heraus.

fEntfernen Sie die Stirnkappe 2 .

fEntnehmen Sie vorsichtig das Messer 3 .

fSetzen Sie ein neues, unbeschädigtes Messer gleicher Größe und Ausführung (siehe Abschnitt

„Ersatzteile und Zubehör“) ein. Achten Sie dabei auf die richtige Einbaurichtung.

Die Einbaurichtung wird durch die abgeschrägte Ecke vorgegeben 1 (Abbildung H ).

fSetzen Sie die Stirnkappe wieder auf.

fDrehen Sie die Stirnkappenschraube fest.

10 Außerbetriebnahme

Das Verarbeitungswerkzeug kann bei bestimmungsgemäßer Verwendung zeitlich unbeschränkt

genutzt werden. Im Fall einer Entsorgung muss das Verarbeitungswerkzeug fachgerecht unter

Berücksichtigung der landesspeziﬁschen Entsorgungsvorschriften entsorgt werden.

11 Ersatzteile und Zubehör

HINWEIS

Das Verwenden von nicht vom Hersteller zugelassenen Ersatzteilen und Zubehör kann das

Verabeitungswerkzeug beschädigen.

fVerwenden Sie ausschließlich zugelassene Ersatzteile und Zubehör, ansonsten erlischt der

Gewährleistungsanspruch.

Ersatzteile und Zubehör können direkt über die jeweilige HellermannTyton Landesvertretung

bezogen werden.
