Safety instructions

Please read these instructions before operating the appliance.

Note: This appliance produces very hot water. Therefore, please take care when

dispensing the water in order to avoid scalding yourself. As the stainless steel

parts will be hot, do not touch any stainless steel parts when using your

appliance. The hot water from this appliance cannot be used for sterilising

purposes.

• Carefully read these operating instructions before using the appliance for the first time

and keep them in a safe place: Tefal cannot be held responsible for incorrect use.

• Do not touch the spout when it is operating as this will be hot.

• Only plug the appliance into an earthed socket. Check that the power supply voltage

shown on the appliance’s rating plate corresponds to that of your installation.

• Be aware of any steam escaping from the appliance as this will be hot.

• Take care not to place the appliance on a hot surface like a hot-plate or use it close

to a naked flame. The appliance should be placed on a flat, stable, heat-resistant

surface away from water splashes.

• Immediately take the plug out from the mains if the appliance does not function

correctly.

• Do not pull the power supply cord to remove the plug.

• Do not let the power supply cord hang down on the edge of a table or a work surface.

• Do not place your hand or the power supply cord on the hot parts of the appliance.

• Never soak the appliance, the cord or electrical plug in water or any other liquid.

• To avoid any danger, do not use the appliance if the power supply cord or plug are

damaged. You must have the power supply cord replaced by a TEFAL authorized

service centre.

• Always refer to the instructions to de-scale the appliance.

• Protect the appliance against humidity and frost.

• Do not use the appliance if it does not operate correctly or if it has been damaged -

see Helpline details on the back cover of this booklet.

• Except for cleaning and scale removal in accordance with the procedures for use of

the appliance, any investigations, repairs or maintenance must be carried out by a

TEFAL authorized service centre.

• Any error in electrical connection negates the guarantee.

• Unplug the appliance as soon as you have finished using it for a while or when

cleaning.

• All appliances are subject to rigorous quality inspection. Practical tests using

appliances taken at random are conducted and this may explain any signs or marks

showing prior use.

• You are advised not to use multiple sockets and/or extension leads.

• Never put anything else other than water in the water tank.

• Only use your appliance for boiling drinking water.

• Do not touch the metal parts of the appliance as they may be hot.

• Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst in use.

• This hot water dispenser must only be used with water in the tank.

• This appliance has been designed for domestic use only. Any commercial use,

inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer ac-

cepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply.

Preventing domestic accidents

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced

physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless

they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by

person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they

do not play with the appliance.

Even slight burns can sometimes be serious for children. As they grow up, teach your

children to take care with hot liquids they may encounter in the kitchen. Place the

appliance and power cord well behind the work surface outside the reach of children

and certain disabled persons.

If an accident occurs, immediately apply cold running water to the burn and call a

medical doctor if necessary.

To avoid accidents, do not carry your child or baby when drinking or carrying a hot

drink.

Product description

Using your Express Boil

Before using your Express Boil for the first time:

• Unpack your appliance carefully from the box.

• Put your appliance on a dry, flat, stable, heat-resistant secure surface away from

the edge.

• Plug the appliance into a mains socket.

IMPORTANT:

Press the stop button immediately to ensure that the appliance does not start a

heating cycle without water in the tank or without a cup under the spout

• Follow the instructions below on using your appliance and carefully discard the first

five measures of boiled water (i.e. the first full tank of water). This will remove any

residues that may remain from the manufacturing process.

Using your appliance

1. Press the lid open button H (fig 1)

2. Fill the water tank B with cold tap water either directly from your cold water tap or

using a jug filled with fresh cold water from the tap (fig 2).

The water level should be between the min and max markings. You can see the level

through the water window.

3. Close the lid with button G

4. Press the stop button (D). This will make sure that your appliance will not

immediately start a heating cycle when you place it onto the power base.

5. Place a suitable cup or container with a tea bag or coffee, sugar, etc. below the

dispensing nozzle (C). (fig 3)

6. Select the desired volume of hot water by adjusting the dispensing control knob to

the required setting F (fig 4).

For small cups (around 150ml), set the control towards the setting.

For large cups (around 250ml), set the control towards the setting.

If you are not sure which setting to use, it’s best to use a lower setting the first time.

7. Press the start button (E). The start button lights up red and your appliance starts

to boil. (Fig 5). The selected quantity of hot water will be dispensed into the cup.

8. If, after just having heated up and dispensed water the appliance will not switch

back on and heat up again straightaway for the next cup, simply wait for a few

seconds before pressing the start button again.

Stopping your appliance

If you have started the heating cycle and then decide

you want to stop for any reason before dispensing the

water or during dispensing, simply press the stop

button D (fig 6). The boiled water will be safely

transferred back into the water tank. After a few

seconds, you can start the heating procedure again.

NB: The noise during use is due to the water heating

up. This is normal.

Cleaning your appliance

Emptying your appliance

1. After your appliance has completely cooled down,

unplug it from the mains socket and remove the

appliance from the power base.

2. Press the lid open button.(H)

3. Hold your appliance over a sink and pour the water

out by tilting your appliance on one side. (fig 7)

4. Still holding your appliance over the sink, turn it the

right way up and press the start button. Then let

any water from the dispense chamber drain from

the dispensing nozzle C (fig 8)

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all the water has been

emptied from your appliance.

If your appliance is not going to be used for a long

period (e.g. during holiday), we recommend that

before you leave you empty it. Before using it again, fill

the tank with tap water and then carry out a few

heating cycles and carefully discard the water each

time. To clean the removable drip tray, lift it off the

power base and clean it using warm water and

washing-up liquid. (fig 9)

Cleaning

Clean the exterior surface of your appliance with a

damp cloth and then polish it with a soft and dry cloth.

Do not use steel wool pads or abrasive sponges.

Always switch off and

unplug your appliance

and let it completely cool

down before cleaning.

Never immerse the base

unit, power cord, plug or

water tank in water or

any other liquid. Do not

use harsh abrasives,

chemicals or oven

cleaners.

WARNING:

By pressing the start

button you will be put-

ting the appliance into an

" already on" mode it will

begin a heating cycle as

soon as it is put back on

the power base. Please

remember to press the

stop button as soon as

the appliance is put back

onto the power base.

During use, a certain

amount of the water

boiled will be transferred

back to the water tank.

This means the water

tank may become hot.

The stainless steel parts

may also become hot. Do

not touch the stainless

steel parts when using

your appliance. Always

handle your appliance

with care.

Descaling your appliance

Descaling should be carried out every 3 months. You

may need to descale more frequently if you live in

an area where the tap water is hard. Descaling

regularly will help you to maintain the best

performance from your product.

1. Fill your appliance with tap water to the max mark

and place an empty large cup or any large

heatproof container on the drip tray. Set the

dispensing control knob on the max volume and

press the start button. Wait for the end of pouring.

2. Add any descaler (for quantities, refer to the

descaler packaging) to the hot water in the cup

and stir a few seconds. (Figure 10)

3. Pour the contents of the cup into the water tank of

your appliance and close the lid. (Figure 10.)

Note : if you use white vinegar instead of descaler,

skip the steps 1 to 3 and put one litre of white

vinegar directly into the water tank. Do not use any

other vinegar than “white vinegar” which can be

bought from hardware stores.

4. Put the empty cup again onto the drip tray and

press the start button. (E)

5. Wait for the water to be dispensed into the cup.

6. Discard the water from the cup.

7. Repeat steps 4 to 6 until the water level is at the

min mark. Open the lid and empty any remaining

water into the sink. Rinse your appliance by filling

it with fresh tap water and emptying it again into

the sink (see emptying your appliance on page 4).

Fill your appliance with tap water to the max mark

and place your empty large cup on the drip tray.

8. Press the start button and wait for the water to be

dispensed into the cup.

9. Discard the water in the cup.

10.Repeat steps 8 and 9 until the water level is at the

min mark. Open the lid and empty any remaining

water into the sink (see emptying your appliance

on page 4).

Your appliance is now ready to use again.

Utilisation de votre distributeur d’eau

chaude à la demande

Avant la première utilisation de votre distributeur d’eau chaude à la demande

• Déballez soigneusement votre appareil de son carton.

• Posez votre appareil sur une surface sèche, plane, stable et résistante à la chaleur,

loin du bord.

• Branchez l’appareil sur une prise secteur.

IMPORTANT:

Appuyez immédiatement sur le bouton d’arrêt pour vous assurer que l’appareil ne

démarre pas un cycle de chauffage en l’absence d’eau dans le réservoir ou de tasse

sous la buse.

• Suivez les instructions ci-dessous lors de l’utilisation de votre appareil en prenant soin de

jeter les cinq premières mesures d’eau bouillante (c’est-à-dire le premier plein d’eau).

Vous vous débarrasserez ainsi des derniers résidus du processus de fabrication.

Utilisation de votre appareil

1. Appuyez sur le bouton d’ouverture du couvercle H (fig 1)

2. Remplissez le réservoir d’eau B avec de l’eau froide du robinet soit directement de-

puis votre robinet, soit en utilisant un récipient rempli d’eau fraîche du robinet (fig.

2). Le niveau d’eau doit se situer entre les repères MIN et MAX. Vous pouvez voir le

niveau à travers la fenêtre de niveau d’eau.

3. Fermez le couvercle à l’aide du bouton G.

4. Appuyez sur le bouton d’arrêt (D). Vous vous assurez ainsi que votre appareil ne dé-

marrera pas immédiatement un cycle de chauffage dès que vous le poserez sur le

socle d’alimentation.

5. Placez une tasse ou un récipient approprié avec un sachet de thé ou du café, du

sucre, etc. sous la buse de distribution (C) (fig. 3).

6. Sélectionnez le volume d’eau chaude souhaité en ajustant le bouton de commande

de distribution sur le réglage de votre choix F (fig. 4).

Pour les petites tasses (150 ml environ), tournez le bouton vers le réglage .

Pour les grandes tasses (250 ml environ), tournez le bouton vers le réglage .

Si vous n’êtes pas sûr du réglage à utiliser, il est préférable d’opter pour un réglage

inférieur lors de la première utilisation.

7. Appuyez sur le bouton de marche (E). Celui-ci s’allume en rouge et votre appareil

commence à bouillir (fig. 5). La quantité d’eau chaude sélectionnée est versée dans

la tasse.

8. Si juste après avoir chauffé et versé l’eau, l’appareil ne se remet pas en marche et

ne chauffe pas immédiatement pour la prochaine tasse, attendez simplement

quelques secondes avant d’appuyer à nouveau sur le bouton de marche.

Arrêt de votre appareil

Si après avoir démarré le cycle de chauffage, vous vou-

lez arrêter l’appareil pour une raison quelconque avant

que l’eau ne soit versée ou pendant le versement, il

vous suffit d’appuyer sur le bouton d’arrêt D (fig. 6).

L’eau bouillante sera retransférée en toute sécurité

dans le réservoir d’eau. Au bout de quelques secondes,

vous pourrez redémarrer la procédure de chauffage.

NB: Le bruit émis pendant le fonctionnement est dû à

l’eau qui chauffe. C’est tout à fait normal.

Nettoyage de votre appareil

Vidage de votre appareil

1. Après avoir laissé l’appareil refroidir complètement,

débranchez-le de la prise secteur et soulevez-le du

socle d’alimentation.

2. Appuyez sur le bouton d’ouverture du couvercle

(H).

3. Tenez l’appareil au-dessus d’un évier et videz l’eau

en inclinant l’appareil sur un côté (fig. 7).

4. Toujours en tenant l’appareil au-dessus de l’évier,

redressez-le et appuyez sur le bouton de marche.

Puis laissez l’eau résiduelle contenue dans la cham-

bre de distribution s’écouler par la buse de distri-

bution C (fig. 8).

5. Répétez les étapes 3 et 4 jusqu’à ce que toute l’eau

ait été vidée de l’appareil.

Si vous n’avez pas l’intention d’utiliser votre appareil

pendant une longue période (pendant les vacances

par exemple), nous vous recommandons de le vider

avant de partir. Avant de le réutiliser, remplissez le ré-

servoir d’eau du robinet, puis procédez à plusieurs cy-

cles de chauffage en prenant soin de jeter l’eau à

chaque fois. Pour nettoyer le bac récepteur amovible,

retirez-le du socle d’alimentation et nettoyez-le à l’eau

tiède et au liquide vaisselle (fig. 9).

En cours d’utilisation, une

certaine quantité d’eau

bouillante sera retransférée

dans le réservoir d’eau.

Cela signifie que le réservoir

d’eau peut devenir très

chaud.

Les parties en inox peuvent

également devenir très

chaudes. Ne les touchez pas

pendant le fonctionnement

de l’appareil. Manipulez

toujours votre appareil avec

précaution.

Arrêtez et débranchez tou-

jours votre appareil et

laissez-le refroidir complète-

ment avant de le nettoyer.

Ne plongez jamais le socle,

le câble d’alimentation, la

fiche ou le réservoir d’eau

dans l’eau ou dans un autre

liquide. N’utilisez pas de

produits abrasifs ou

chimiques agressifs ni de

nettoyants pour four.

ATTENTION :

Si vous appuyez sur le bou-

ton de marche, vous mettrez

l’appareil en mode d’at-

tente et il

commencera un cycle de

chauffage dès qu’il sera

posé sur le socle d’alimenta-

tion. N’oubliez pas

d’appuyer sur le bouton

d’arrêt dès que vous posez

l’appareil sur le socle d’ali-

mentation.

Nettoyage

Nettoyez l’extérieur de votre appareil avec un chiffon

humide, puis passez un chiffon doux et sec. N’utilisez

pas de tampons métalliques à récurer ni d’éponges

abrasives.

Détartrage de votre appareil

Il est recommandé d’effectuer un détartrage tous

les 3 mois. Il peut être nécessaire de détartrer plus

souvent si vous vivez dans une zone où l’eau du ro-

binet est très calcaire. Un détartrage régulier contri-

buera à préserver les performances de votre produit.

1. Remplissez votre appareil d’eau du robinet jusqu’au

repère MAX et posez une grande tasse ou un grand

récipient résistant à la chaleur sur le bac récepteur.

Réglez le bouton de commande de distribution sur le

volume maximal puis appuyez sur le bouton de

marche. Attendez que l’eau ait fini de couler.

2. Ajoutez du produit détartrant (pour les quantités, ré-

férez-vous à l’emballage du détartrant) dans l’eau

chaude contenue dans la tasse et remuez quelques

secondes (fig. 10).

3. Versez le contenu de la tasse dans le réservoir d’eau

de l’appareil et refermez le couvercle (fig. 10).

Remarque: si vous utilisez du vinaigre blanc à la

place d’un détartrant, sautez les étapes 1 à 3 et ver-

sez un litre de vinaigre blanc directement dans le ré-

servoir d’eau. N’utilisez pas d’autre vinaigre que le

«vinaigre blanc» que l’on trouve en quincaillerie.

4. Reposez la tasse vide sur le bac récepteur et appuyez

sur le bouton de marche (E).

5. Attendez que l’eau soit versée dans la tasse.

6. Jetez l’eau de la tasse.

7. Répétez les étapes 4 à 6 jusqu’à ce que le niveau

d’eau ait atteint le repère MIN. Ouvrez le couvercle et

videz le reste de l’eau dans l’évier. Rincez l’appareil

en le remplissant d’eau fraîche du robinet avant de

le vider à nouveau dans l’évier (voir «Vidage de votre

appareil», page 4). Remplissez ensuite l’appareil

d’eau du robinet jusqu’au repère MAX et posez votre

grande tasse vide sur le bac récepteur.

8. Appuyez sur le bouton de marche et attendez que

l’eau soit versée dans la tasse.

9. Jetez l’eau de la tasse.

10.Répétez les étapes 8 et 9 jusqu’à ce que le niveau

d’eau ait atteint le repère MIN. Ouvrez le couvercle et

videz le reste de l’eau dans l’évier (voir «Vidage de

votre appareil», page 4).

Votre appareil est maintenant prêt à l’emploi.

Veiligheidsvoorschriften

Lees deze voorschriften voordat u het apparaat bedient.

Opmerking: Dit apparaat verwarmt water tot een zeer hoge temperatuur. Wees dus

zeer voorzichtig wanneer u water uit het apparaat laat komen om te

voorkomen dat u brandwonden oploopt. Alle roestvrijstalen onderdelen

worden heet. Raak geen roestvrijstalen onderdelen aan tijdens het gebruik

van het apparaat. Het kokendhete water uit dit apparaat kan niet worden

gebruikt om te steriliseren.

• Lees deze gebruiksaanwijzing zorgvuldig door voordat u het apparaat voor de eerste

keer gebruikt en bewaar ze op een veilige plaats. Tefal is niet aansprakelijk voor verkeerd

gebruik.

• Raak de wateruitloop niet aan wanneer het apparaat wordt gebruikt; de wateruitloop is

heet.

• Steek de stekker van het apparaat altijd in een geaard stopcontact. Controleer of de

netspanning op het typeplaatje van het apparaat overeenkomt met die van het

elektriciteitsnet.

• Let op: de stoom die uit het apparaat komt is heet.

• Zet het apparaat niet op een warme ondergrond, zoals een warmhoudplaatje, en gebruik

het apparaat niet in de buurt van open vuur. Het apparaat moet worden geplaatst op

een vlakke, stabiele, warmtebestendige ondergrond uit de buurt van waterspatten.

• Haal de stekker direct uit het stopcontact als het apparaat niet goed werkt.

• Trek niet aan het netsnoer om de stekker uit het stopcontact te halen.

• Hang het netsnoer niet langs de rand van de tafel of het aanrecht.

• Raak de hete onderdelen van het apparaat niet aan en zorg ervoor dat het netsnoer niet

met de hete onderdelen in contact komt.

• Dompel het apparaat, het netsnoer of de stekker niet onder in water of een andere

vloeistof.

• Voorkom elk gevaar en gebruik het apparaat niet als het netsnoer of de stekker zijn

beschadigd. Netsnoeren moeten worden vervangen door een erkend servicecentrum

van Tefal.

• Raadpleeg altijd de gebruiksaanwijzing voor het ontkalken van het apparaat.

• Bescherm het apparaat tegen vocht en vorst.

• Gebruik het apparaat niet als het niet goed werkt of als het is beschadigd - zie de

informatie over de helpline op de achterkant van dit boekje.

• Behalve voor het schoonmaken en ontkalken volgens de gebruiksaanwijzing van het

apparaat, moeten alle tests, reparaties of onderhoudsbeurten worden uitgevoerd door

een erkend servicecentrum van Tefal.

• Bij verkeerde aansluiting vervalt de garantie.

• Haal de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer u het apparaat een tijdje niet zult gebruiken

en wanneer u het apparaat schoonmaakt.

• De kwaliteit van onze apparaten wordt grondig gecontroleerd. Er worden steekproeven

uitgevoerd waarbij sommige apparaten worden getest, waardoor uw apparaat tekenen

kan vertonen van eerder gebruik.

• Het is niet verstandig om gebruik te maken van meer dan één stopcontact en/of

verlengsnoeren.

• Vul het waterreservoir alleen met water.

• Gebruik het apparaat alleen voor het koken van drinkwater.

• Raak de metalen onderdelen van het apparaat niet aan, deze kunnen heet zijn.

• Blijf bij het apparaat wanneer u het apparaat gebruikt.

• Deze heetwatertap mag alleen worden gebruikt wanneer er water in het waterreservoir

zit.

• Dit apparaat is uitsluitend bestemd voor huishoudelijk gebruik. Bedrijfsmatig gebruik,

verkeerd gebruik of niet-naleving van de gebruiksaanwijzing doet de aansprakelijkheid

van de fabrikant vervallen en maakt de garantie ongeldig.

Voorkomen van ongelukken in huis

Dit apparaat is niet bedoeld om zonder hulp of toezicht te worden gebruikt door kin-

deren of andere personen indien hun fysieke, zintuiglijke of mentale vermogen hen

niet in staat stelt dit apparaat op een veilige wijze te gebruiken, tenzij zij van tevoren

instructies betreffende het gebruik van dit apparaat hebben ontvangen van iemand die

verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid. U dient toezicht te houden op kinderen om te

voorkomen dat zij met het apparaat spelen.

Voor kinderen kunnen lichte brandwonden soms zeer ernstig zijn. Leer oudere kinderen

dat ze voorzichtig moeten zijn met hete vloeistoffen die zich in de keuken bevinden.

Plaats het apparaat en het netsnoer helemaal achteraan op het aanrecht, buiten be-

reik van kinderen en mensen met bepaalde beperkingen.

Als er zich een ongeval voordoet, houd brandwonden dan onmiddellijk onder de koude

kraan en schakel zo nodig medische hulp in.

Voorkom ongevallen en draag uw baby of kind niet terwijl u een hete drank drinkt of

draagt.
