Power Rating
The gross power rating for individual gas engine models is labeled in accordance with SAE
(Society of Automotive Engineers) code J1940 (Small Engine Power & Torque Rating Proce-
dure), and rating performance has been obtained and corrected in accordance with SAE J1995
(Revision 2002-05). Torque values are derived at 3060 RPM; horsepower values are derived
at 3600 RPM. Net power values are taken with exhaust and air cleaner installed whereas gross
power values are collected without these attachments. Actual gross engine power will be higher
than net engine power and is affected by, among other things, ambient operating conditions
and engine-to-engine variability. Given the wide array of products on which engines are placed,
the gas engine may not develop the rated gross power when used in a given piece of power
equipment. This difference is due to a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the variety
of engine components (air cleaner, exhaust, charging, cooling, carburetor, fuel pump, etc.),
application limitations, ambient operating conditions (temperature, humidity, altitude), and
engine-to-engine variability. Due to manufacturing and capacity limitations, Briggs & Stratton
may substitute an engine of higher rated power for this Series engine.

Symbols And Warnings
The safety alert symbol is used to identify safety information about hazards that can
result in personal injury. A signal word (DANGER, WARNING, or CAUTION) is used with the
alert symbol to indicate the likelihood and the potential severity of injury. In addition, a hazard
symbol may be used to represent the type of hazard.
DANGER indicates a hazard which, if not avoided, will result in death or
serious injury.
WARNING indicates a hazard which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury.
CAUTION indicates a hazard which, if not avoided, could result in minor or
moderate injury.
NOTICE indicates a situation that could result in damage to the product.
Responsibility Of The Owner
WARNING: This powerful cutting machine is capable of amputating hands and
feet and can throw objects that can cause injury and damage! Failure to comply
with the following SAFETY instructions could result in serious injury or death to
the operator or other persons.
The owner of the machine must understand these instructions and must allow only persons
who understand these instructions to operate machine. Each person operating the machine
must be of sound mind and body and must not be under the influence of any substance,
which might impair vision, dexterity or judgment. If you have any questions pertaining to your
machine which your dealer cannot answer to your satisfaction, contact Customer Service.
Operator Safety Instructions
Protection for Children
Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Children are
often attracted to the machine and the mowing activity. Never assume that children will remain
where you last saw them.
1. KEEP children out of the mowing area and under the watchful care of a responsible adult
other than the operator.
2. DO NOT allow children in yard when machine is operated and turn machine OFF if anyone
enters the area.
3. DO NOT allow pre-teenage children to operate machine.
4. ALLOW only responsible adults & teenagers with mature judgment under close adult
supervision to operate machine.
5. DO NOT pull mower backwards unless absolutely necessary. LOOK and SEE behind and
down for children, pets and hazards before and while backing.
6. USE EXTRA CARE when approaching blind corners, shrubs, trees, or other objects that
may obscure vision.
Slope Operation
1. Slopes are a major factor related to slip and fall accidents, which can result in severe
injury. All slopes require extra caution. If you feel uneasy on a slope, DO NOT mow it.
2. Mow across slopes, never up-and-down. Exercise extreme CAUTION when changing
directions on slopes. DO NOT mow steep slopes (maximum 10 degrees) or other areas
where stability or traction is in doubt.
3. Use extra care with grass catchers or other attachments; these affect the handling and
the stability of the machine.
Preparation
1. Read, understand, and follow instructions and warnings in this manual and on the
mower, engine and attachments. Know the controls and the proper use of the mower
before starting.
2. Only mature, responsible persons shall operate the machine and only after proper
instruction.
3. Data indicates that operators age 60 and above, are involved in a large percentage of
mower-related injuries. These operators should evaluate their ability to operate the
mower safely enough to protect themselves and others from serious injury.
4. Handle fuel with extra care. Fuels are flammable and vapors are explosive. Use only an
approved fuel container. DO NOT remove fuel cap or add fuel with engine running. Add
fuel outdoors only with engine stopped and cool. Clean spilled fuel and oil from machine.
DO NOT smoke.
5. Check the area to be mowed and remove all objects such as toys, wire, rocks, limbs and
other objects that could cause injury if thrown by blade or interfere with mowing. Also
note the location of holes, stumps, and other possible hazards.
6. Keep people and pets out of the mowing area. Immediately, STOP Blade, Stop engine and
Stop mower if anyone enters the area.
7. Check shields, deflectors, switches, blade controls and other safety devices frequently for
proper operation and location.
8. Make sure all safety decals are clearly legible. Replace if damaged.
9. Protect yourself when mowing and wear safety glasses, a dust mask, long pants, and
substantial footwear. DO NOT mow barefooted or with sandals.
10. Know how to STOP blade and engine quickly in preparation for emergencies.
11. Use extra care when loading or unloading the machine into a trailer or truck.
12. Check grass catcher components frequently for signs of wear or deterioration and re-
place as needed to prevent injury from thrown objects going through weak or torn spots.

Safe Handling of Gasoline
To avoid personal injury or property damage, use extreme care in handling gasoline. Gasoline is
extremely flammable and the vapors are explosive.
1. Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other sources of ignition.
2. Use only an approved fuel container.
3. DO NOT remove fuel cap or add fuel with the engine running. Allow the engine to cool
before refueling.
4. DO NOT refuel the machine indoors.
5. DO NOT store the machine or fuel container inside where there is an open flame, spark or
pilot light such as on a water heater or other appliances.
6. DO NOT fill fuel containers inside a vehicle or on a truck or trailer bed with a plastic liner.
Always place the containers on the ground away from the vehicle before filling.
7. Remove gas-powered equipment from the vehicle or trailer and refuel it on the ground.
If this is not possible, then refuel equipment using a portable container, rather than a
gasoline dispenser nozzle.
8. DO NOT start gas powered equipment in enclosed vehicles or trailers.
9. Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank or container opening at all times
until fueling is complete. DO NOT use a nozzle lock-open device
10. If fuel is spilled on clothing, change clothing immediately.
11. DO NOT overfill a fuel tank. Replace fuel cap and tighten securely.
Operation
1. DO NOT put hands or feet near or under rotating parts. Keep clear of discharge area
while engine is running.
2. STOP engine when crossing gravel drives, walks, or roads, and under any conditions
where thrown objects might be a hazard.
3. Mow only in daylight or good artificial light.
4. DO NOT operate mower while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
5. After striking a foreign object or if mower vibrates abnormally, STOP the engine, discon-
nect and secure spark plug wire. Inspect the mower for any damage and repair the
damage before starting.
6. DO NOT mow near drop offs, ditches or embankments. Operator could lose footing or
balance.
7. STAY ALERT for holes and other hidden hazards. Tall grass can hide obstacles. Keep
away from ditches, washouts, culverts, fences and protruding objects.
8. DO NOT mow on wet grass. Always be sure of your footing. Keep a firm hold on the
handle and walk, never run. Slipping could cause injury.
9. ALWAYS stay behind handle when engine (motor) is running.
10. DO NOT leave the machine with the engine running. STOP BLADE and STOP ENGINE
before leaving the operator’s position for any reason.
11. Before cleaning, repairing or inspecting make certain engine, blade and all moving parts
have STOPPED. Disconnect and secure spark plug wire away from plug to prevent ac-
cidental starting.
12. STOP engine and wait until the blade comes to complete STOP before removing grass
bag and/or clearing grass.
13. DO NOT operate mower without the entire grass catcher, or guards in place discharge
guard, rear guard or other safety devices in place and working. DO NOT point discharge
at people, passing cars, windows or doors.
14. DO NOT discharge material against a wall or obstruction. Material may ricochet back
towards the operator.
15. Slow down before turning.
16. Watch out for traffic when near or crossing roadways.
17. DO NOT operate engine in enclosed areas. Engine exhaust gases contain carbon monox-
ide, a deadly poison.
18. Only use accessories approved by the manufacturer. See manufacturer’s instructions for
proper operation and installation of accessories.
Maintenance and Storage
1. DO NOT store mower or fuel container inside where fumes may reach an open flame,
spark or pilot light such as in a water heater, furnace, clothes dryer or other gas appli-
ance. Allow engine to cool before storing machine in an enclosure. Store fuel container
out of reach of children in a well ventilated, unoccupied building.
2. Keep mower and engine free of grass, leaves or excess grease to reduce fire hazard and
engine overheating.
3. When draining fuel tank, drain fuel into an approved container outdoors and away from
open flame.
4. Keep all bolts, especially blade bolts, nuts and screws properly tight. Check that all cotter
pins are in proper position.
5. Always provide adequate ventilation when running engine. Engine exhaust gases contain
carbon monoxide, a deadly poison.
6. Service engine and make adjustments only when engine is stopped. Removed spark plug
wire from spark plug and secure wire away from spark plug to prevent accidental start-
ing.
7. DO NOT change engine governor speed settings or overspeed engine.
8. Check grass bag assembly frequently for wear or deterioration to avoid thrown objects
and exposure to moving parts. Replace with new bag if loose seams or tears are evident.
Replace slider or bag adapter if broken or cracked.
9. Mower blades are sharp and can cut. Wrap the blades or wear heavy leather gloves and
use CAUTION when handling them.
10. DO NOT test for spark by grounding spark plug next to spark plug hole; spark plug could
ignite gas exiting engine.
11. Have machine serviced by an authorized dealer at least once a year and have the dealer
install any new safety devices.
12. Use only factory authorized replacement parts or like
parts when making repairs.
Intended Use/Limits Of Use
The walk-behind lawn mower is designed to cut lawn grass. Any other use is not permitted. It is
not designed to cut grass over 15cm in length or grass mixed with tall weeds. The lawn mower
is only suitable for private use in a domestic garden. It is not suitable for cutting grass in public
parks or playing fields.

The mower was fully assembled at the factory. When the mower was put in the carton, the
handle was put in the storage position. To put the handle in the operating position, follow the
steps below.
1. Remove the mower from the carton.
2. Raise the lower handle (A) to the operating position (Figure 2).
3. The handle bracket (B) has two mounting holes (Figure 3). Use hole (C) to mount the
handle in the high position. Use hole (D) to mount the handle in the low position.
4. Mount the handle in either hole (C) or hole (D) with the fasteners as shown. Tighten

knobs (E) until the lower handle is secure.
5. Loosen the knobs (F) and fasteners securing the upper handle (G) to the lower handle
(A). See Figure 4. Put the upper handle (G) in the operating position. Tighten the knobs
(F) until the upper handle and lower handle are locked in place.
6. To mount the recoil starter rope, you must first engage the engine stop lever (H). See
Figure 5. Slowly pull the recoil starter handle (I) and install the recoil starter rope into the
rope guide (J).
7. On all models, secure the cable to the handle with the wire tie (K). See Figure 6.
NOTICE: Be careful when you fold or raise the handle. Do not damage the cables. A cable
that is bent will not work correctly. Before you use the unit, replace a bent or damaged
cable.

1. Remove the four panel fasteners (A) from the parts bag. See Figure 7.
2. Align the handle console (B) to the four mounting holes in the upper handle (C).
3. Attach the handle console (B) to the upper handle (C) with the four panel fasteners (A).

1. Remove the two small screws (D) from the parts bag. See Figure 9.
2. Align the holes in the throttle control (E) with the mounting holes in the handle
console (B).
3. Fasten the throttle control to the handle console with the two pan head screws.
4. Remove the throttle control knob from the parts bag.
5. Use a small hammer (F) and lightly tap the throttle control knob (G) onto the throttle
control arm. See Figure 10.

1. Slide the frame assembly (A) into the open end of the grass bag (B). See Figure 11.
2. Make sure the handle (C) is on the outside of the grass bag (Figure 12). Attach the clips
(D) to the frame assembly (E).

1. Raise the rear door (F). See Figure 13. Hold the handle (G) of the grass bag and mount
the grass bag hooks (H) onto the rear door pivot rod (I).
2. Lower the rear door. Make sure the grass bag hooks (H) are mounted on the rear door

WARNING: Before you remove or install the mulcher plug, disconnect the spark
plug wire and keep it away from the spark plug.
Some models have an optional mulcher plug (A). See Figure 14. Use the mulcher plug to mulch
the grass for a clean, fine cut. To discharge the grass into the grass bagger, remove the mulcher
plug.

2. Slide the mulcher plug (A) into the discharge opening.

NOTICE: The engine does not contain oil. Before you start the engine, make sure you add oil ac-
cording to the instructions in this manual. If you start the engine without oil, it will be damaged
beyond repair and will not be covered under warranty.
Oil Recommendations
We recommend the use of Briggs & Stratton Warranty Certified oils for best performance. Other
high-quality detergent oils are acceptable if classified for service SF, SG, SH, SJ or higher. Do
not use special additives.
Outdoor temperatures determine the proper oil viscosity for the engine. Use the chart to select
the best viscosity for the outdoor temperature range expected.
* Below 40°F (4°C) the use of SAE 30 will result in hard starting.
** Above 80°F (27°C) the use of 10W-30 may cause increased oil consumption. Check oil level
more frequently.
How To Check/Add Oil
Before adding or checking the oil
• Place engine level.
• Clean the oil ll area of any debris.
1. Remove the dipstick (A) and wipe with a clean cloth (Figure 17, 18).
2. Insert and tighten the dipstick.
3. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. It should be at the top of the full indicator
(B) on the dipstick.
4. If low, add oil slowly into the engine oil fill (C). Do not overfill. After adding oil, wait one
minute and then recheck the oil level.
5. Replace and tighten the dipstick.
Fuel Recommendations
Fuel must meet these requirements:
• Clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline.
• A minimum of 87 octane/87 AKI (91 RON). High altitude use, see below.
• Gasoline with up to 10% ethanol (gasohol) or up to 15% MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl
ether) is acceptable.
CAUTION: Do not use unapproved gasolines, such as E85. Do not mix oil in gasoline or modify
the engine to run on alternate fuels. This will damage the engine components and void the
engine warranty.
To protect the fuel system from gum formation, mix a fuel stabilizer into the fuel. See Storage.
All fuel is not the same. If starting or performance problems occur, change fuel providers or
change brands. This engine is certified to operate on gasoline. The emissions control system
for this engine is EM (Engine Modifications).
High Altitude
At altitudes over 5,000 feet (1524 meters), a minimum 85 octane/85 AKI (89 RON) gasoline
is acceptable. To remain emissions compliant, high altitude adjustment is required. Operation
without this adjustment will cause decreased performance, increased fuel consumption, and
increased emissions. See a Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer for high altitude adjustment
information.
Operation of the engine at altitudes below 2,500 feet (762 meters) with the high altitude kit is
not recommended.
How To Add Fuel
WARNING
Fuel and its vapors are extremely flammable and explosive.
Fire or explosion can cause severe burns or death.
When Adding Fuel:
• Turn engine off and let engine cool at least 2 minutes before removing the fuel cap.
• Fill fuel tank outdoors or in well-ventilated area.
• Do not overll fuel tank. To allow for expansion of the fuel, do not ll above the bot-
tom of the fuel tank neck.
• Keep fuel away from sparks, open ames, pilot lights, heat, and other ignition
sources.
• Check fuel lines, tank, cap, and ttings frequently for cracks or leaks. Replace if
necessary.
• If fuel spills, wait until it evaporates before starting engine.
1. Clean the fuel cap area of dirt and debris. Remove the fuel cap (A, Figure 19, 20, 21).
2. Fill the fuel tank (B) with fuel. To allow for expansion of the fuel, do not fill above the
bottom of the fuel tank neck (C).
3. Reinstall the fuel cap.

Release the engine stop lever (A) and the engine and the blade will automatically stop. To start
and run the engine, hold the engine stop lever (A) in the operating position (B).
Before you start the engine, operate the engine stop lever several times. Make sure that the
engine stop cable moves freely and that the engine stop lever operates correctly.

To stop the engine, release the engine stop lever (A). Disconnect the wire and keep it away from
the spark plug to keep the engine from starting.
Rear Wheel Drive System - Figure

WARNING: For safe operation, the drive system must immediately disengage
when the drive lever is released. If the drive system does not disengage cor-
rectly, do not operate the mower until the drive system is adjusted or repaired
by an authorized service center.
Self-propelled models have a rear wheel drive system. Operate the drive system as follows.
1. Hold the engine stop lever (A) in the operating position (Figure 24, 25). Start the engine.
Note: To stop the engine, release the engine stop lever (A).
2. Hold the drive lever (C) against the handle (B). The drive system is now engaged and the
mower will move forward. To slow the speed, slightly release the drive lever.
3. To disengage only the drive system, release the drive lever (C). In the disengaged posi-
tion (D), the mower will stop moving forward but the engine will continue to run.
4. To disengage both the drive system and also to stop the engine, completely release the
engine stop lever (A).
Note: When the drive system is disengaged on a new unit, it is possible for the rear wheels to
rotate if lifted off the ground. This is normal with a new belt and will stop after one or two
hours of operation.

WARNING: The blade will rotate when the engine runs.
WARNING
Rapid retraction of starter cord (kickback) will pull hand and arm toward engine
faster than you can let go.
Broken bones, fractures, bruises or sprains could result.
• When starting engine, pull the starter cord slowly until resistance is felt and then pull
rapidly to avoid kickback.
WARNING
Fuel and its vapors are extremely flammable and explosive.
Fire or explosion can cause severe burns or death.
When Starting Engine
• Ensure that spark plug, mufer, fuel cap and air cleaner (if equipped) are in place and
secured.
• Do not crank engine with spark plug removed.
• If engine oods, set choke (if equipped) to OPEN/RUN position, move throttle (if
equipped) to FAST position and crank until engine starts.
WARNING
Engines give off carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless, poison gas.
Breathing carbon monoxide can cause nausea, fainting or death.
• Start and run engine outdoors.
• Do not start or run engine in enclosed area, even if doors or windows are open.
Important: Before you start the engine, operate the engine stop lever several times. Make sure
that the engine stop cable moves freely and that the engine stop lever operates correctly.

3. Push the stop switch (A), if equipped, to the on position (Figure 27, 28).
4. Turn the fuel shut-off valve (B), if equipped, to the on position.
5. Move the throttle control, if equipped, to the fast position. Operate the engine in the fast
position.
6. Engines with primer: For most temperature conditions, firmly push the primer bulb (C)
three times. See Figure 26, 27, 29. In cooler weather, additional priming may be needed.
A warm engine will usually not require priming. Every time you push the primer button,
wait two seconds. Note: When starting a new engine for the first time, push the primer
bulb five times.
Note: Excessive priming can flood the carburetor with fuel. See “The Engine Will Not
Start” in the Troubleshooting section.
7. Self-propelled models: Make sure the drive lever (C) is in the disengaged position (D).
See Figure 24, 25.
8. Stand behind the mower. Use one hand to hold the engine stop lever (H) in the operating
position. See Figure 5. Use the other hand to hold the recoil starter handle (I).
9. Slowly pull the recoil starter handle until resistance is felt, then pull quickly to start the
engine. Slowly return the recoil starter handle.
10. If the engine does not start in 5 or 6 tries, see the Troubleshooting section.
Before Operation Of The Mower
WARNING: Check the condition of the grass bag for wear or deterioration. If
worn or damaged, replace the parts only with approved factory replacement
parts.
• To completely ll the grass bag (if equipped) operate the engine with the throttle control
(if equipped) in the fast position.
• Make sure the grass bag (if equipped) is properly mounted.
• Check the condition of the grass bag for wear or deterioration. If worn or damaged,

How To Adjust The Height Of Cut

How To Clean The Mower Housing

If grass and other debris accumulate on the bottom of the mower housing, performance will be
reduced. After you mow, clean the mower housing as follows.
1. Stop the engine.
2. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug.
3. Clean the top and the bottom of the mower housing.

To remove or service the drive belt, take the mower to an approved service dealer.

WARNING: Before you adjust the drive cable, release the engine stop lever and
wait for the engine to stop.
If the drive system does not engage and disengage correctly, check the handle for correct as-
sembly. Make sure that all parts are in good condition, not broken or bent, and that all fasteners
are tight.
Worn parts will change the performance of the drive system. When you mow in high thick
grass or on hills, the drive system can slip if the drive cable is too loose. If the drive system
slips, adjust as follows or take the mower to an authorized service dealer.
1. If the drive system slips, turn the cable adjuster (A) one turn in the direction as shown
(Figure 39, 40). Operate the mower and test the drive system.
2. If the drive system still slips, turn the cable adjuster one more turn to shorten the cable.
Again, test the drive system.
3. Repeat the adjustment and test until the drive system does not slip.
4. Before you begin to mow, make sure the drive system will correctly disengage and that
the mower will stop. If the drive system will not disengage, take the mower to an autho-
rized service dealer before you operate the mower.

WARNING: Before you inspect the blade (C) or the blade adapter (D), discon-
nect the spark plug wire and keep it away from the spark plug. If the blade hits
an object, stop the engine. Disconnect the wire to the spark plug. Check the unit
for damage.
Frequently check the blade (C) for wear or damage such as cracks. Frequently check the bolt
(A) that holds the blade. Keep the bolt tight. If the blade hits an object, stop the engine. Discon-
nect the wire to the spark plug. Check the blade adapter (D) for damage. Check for a bent or
damaged blade, a badly worn blade, or other damage. Before you operate the unit, damaged
parts must be replaced with factory authorized replacement parts or like parts. For safety,
replace the blade every two years. Keep a sharp edge on the blade. A blade that is not sharp will
cause the ends of the grass to become brown. To remove or service the blade, take the mower
to an approved service dealer.
Check The Level Of Cut
Test the unit in a small area. If the height of cut is not level or if the cut grass is not discharged
or does not cut even, see the Troubleshooting section.
Engine Maintenance
Carburetor Adjustment
Never make adjustments to the carburetor. The carburetor was set at the factory to operate
efficiently under most conditions. However, if adjustments are required, see any Briggs & Strat-
ton Authorized Dealer for service.

You can drain the oil from the bottom drain hole, the side drain hole, or from the top oil fill tube.

1. With engine off but still warm, disconnect the spark plug wire and keep it away from the
spark plug.
2. The engine is equipped with a bottom drain and/or a side drain. Remove the oil drain
plug. Drain the oil into an approved container.
3. After the oil has drained, install and tighten the oil drain plug.
4. If you drain the oil from the top oil fill tube (C, Figure 17, 18), keep the spark plug end of
the engine up. Drain the oil into an approved container.
WARNING: If you drain the oil from the top oil fill tube, the fuel tank must be
empty or fuel can leak out and result in a fire or explosion. To empty the fuel
tank, run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel.
Change The Oil Filter (if equipped)
Some models are equipped with an optional oil filter. For replacement intervals, see the Main-
tenance chart.
1. Drain the oil from the engine. See the How To Change The Oil section.
2. Remove the oil filter (D) and dispose of properly. See Figure 18.
3. Before you install the new oil filter, lightly lubricate the oil filter gasket with fresh, clean
oil.
4. Install the oil filter by hand until the gasket contacts the oil filter adapter, then tighten the
oil filter 1/2 to 3/4 turns.
5. Add oil. See the Add Oil section.
6. Start and run the engine. As the engine warms up, check for oil leaks.
7. Stop the engine and check the oil level. It should be at the top of the full indicator (B) on
the dipstick (Figure 18).

• Clean the oil ll area of any debris.
1. Remove the dipstick (A) and wipe with a clean cloth (Figure 17, 18).
2. Pour the oil slowly into the engine oil fill (C). Do not overfill. After adding oil, wait one
minute and then check the oil level.
3. Install and tighten the dipstick.
4. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. It should be at the top of the full indicator
(B) on the dipstick.
5. Install and tighten the dipstick.

2. To prevent debris from falling into the carburetor, carefully remove the air filter assembly.
3. Remove the foam element (C) from the air filter base.
4. Wash the foam element in liquid detergent and water. Squeeze dry the foam element in a
clean cloth.
5. Saturate the foam element with clean engine oil. To remove the excess engine oil,
squeeze the foam element in a clean cloth.
6. Install the foam element into the air filter base.
7. Install the air filter assembly onto the carburetor and secure with screw.

2. Open the cover and remove the pre-cleaner (C) and the filter (D).

Do not oil the pre-cleaner.
5. Assemble the dry pre-cleaner to the filter with the lip (E) of the pre-cleaner on the bottom

7. Install the cover tabs (F) into the slots (G).
8. Close the cover and secure with the fastener.

When Storing Fuel Or Equipment With Fuel In Tank
• Store away from furnaces, stoves, water heaters or other appliances that have pilot
lights or other ignition sources because they can ignite fuel vapors.
Fuel System
Fuel can become stale when stored over 30 days. Stale fuel causes acid and gum deposits to
form in the fuel system or on essential carburetor parts. To keep fuel fresh, use Briggs & Strat-
ton FRESH START
®
fuel stabilizer, available as a liquid additive or a drip concentrate cartridge.
There is no need to drain gasoline from the engine if a fuel stabilizer is added according to
instructions. Run the engine for 2 minutes to circulate the stabilizer throughout the fuel system.
The engine and fuel can then be stored up to 24 months.
If gasoline in the engine has not been treated with a fuel stabilizer, it must be drained into an
approved container. Run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel. The use of a fuel stabilizer in
the storage container is recommended to maintain freshness.
Engine Oil
While the engine is still warm, change the engine oil.
Folding Handle Storage
NOTICE: Be careful when you fold or raise the handle. Do not damage the cables. A cable that is
bent will not work correctly. Before you use the unit, replace a bent or damaged cable.

1. Loosen the knobs (A) that hold the upper handle (B) to the lower handle (C). See
Figure 42.
NOTICE: As you fold or raise the handle, make sure that the cables are not caught
between the upper and lower handles or around the handle fasteners.
2. Rotate the upper handle (B) toward the back of the unit. See Figure 43.
3. Remove the knobs (C) and fasteners that secure the lower handle (A) to the handle
bracket (D).
4. Rotate the handle forward over the engine as shown. Make sure that the cables are not
damaged.

1. Raise the lower handle (A) to the operating position (Figure 2).
2. The handle bracket (B) has two mounting holes (Figure 3). Use hole (C) to mount the
handle in the high position. Use hole (D) to mount the handle in the low position.
3. Mount the handle in either hole (C) or hole (D) with the fasteners as shown. Tighten
knobs (E) until the lower handle is secure.
4. Put the upper handle (G) in the operating position (Figure 4). Tighten the knobs (F) until
the upper handle and lower handle are locked in place.
How To Prepare The Mower For Storage
1. Clean the dirt and debris from the cylinder cooling fins and the engine housing.
2. Clean the bottom of the mower housing.
3. Completely clean the mower to protect the paint.
4. Put the unit in a building that has good ventilation.
5. Make sure the grass bag is empty of grass. Grass remaining in the bag during storage
will damage the bag.
NOTICE: Store the engine level (normal operating position). If the engine is tipped for storage,
the fuel tank must be empty and the spark plug side must be up. If the fuel tank is not empty
and if the engine is tipped in any other direction, it may be difficult to start due to oil or gasoline
contaminating the air filter and/or the spark plug.

How To Order Replacement Parts
Use only factory authorized replacement parts or like parts when making repairs. Do not use
attachments or accessories not specifically recommended for this product. In order to obtain
proper replacement parts you must supply the model number which is located on the product
nameplate.
When ordering the following information is required:

• Serial Number
• Part Number
• Quantity
Troubleshooting
The Engine will not start.
1. Make sure the fuel tank is filled with clean fuel. Do not use old fuel.
2. On a cold engine, push the primer button (optional on some models) three times.
3. Make sure the wire for the spark plug is connected to the spark plug.
4. There is too much fuel in the engine cylinder. Remove and dry the spark plug. Pull the
recoil starter handle several times. Install the spark plug. Connect the wire to the spark
plug. Start the engine.
5. The engine is difficult to start in heavy or high grass. Move the mower to a clean dry
surface.
6. Make sure the engine stop lever is in the operating position.
7. Make sure the fuel valve is in the ON position.
The Engine will not stop.
1. Release the engine stop lever.
2. Check the engine stop cable. Replace the cable if bent or damaged.
The Engine performance is bad.
1. Check the height of cut settings. Raise the height of cut if the grass is high.
2. Check the bottom of the blade housing. Clean the blade housing of grass and other
debris.
3. Check the wire to the spark plug. Make sure the wire is connected.
4. Clean the engine cooling fins of grass and other debris.
5. Check the spark plug gap. Set the spark plug gap at 0.76 mm (0.030 in).
6. Check the amount of oil in the engine. Fill with oil if necessary.
7. Check the engine air cleaner.
8. The fuel is bad. Drain and clean the fuel tank. Fill the fuel tank with clean fuel.
Excessive Vibration.
1. The blade is not balanced. Remove the blade and replace with a factory replacement
blade.
2. Check for a bent or broken blade. A damaged blade is dangerous and must be replaced.
3. Check the blade adapter. Replace a broken blade adapter.
4. If the vibration continues, take the mower to an authorized service dealer.
The grass will not discharge correctly.
1. Clean the bottom of the mower housing.
2. Check for a badly worn blade. Remove and sharpen the blade. For safety, replace the
blade every two years with a factory replacement blade.
The grass is not cut even.
1. Check the height adjustment at each wheel. The height adjustment must be the same for
each wheel.
2. Make sure the blade is sharp.
3. Check for a bent or broken blade. A damaged blade is dangerous and must be replaced.
4. Check for a broken blade adapter. Replace a broken blade adapter.
5. Move the throttle control (if equipped) to the fast or start position.
6. Check the throttle control (if equipped). Make sure that the throttle control is not in the
choke position.

Improper Use and Abuse - The proper, intended use of this product is described in the Operator’s Manual. Using the product in
a way not described in the Operator’s Manual or using the product after it has been damaged will void your warranty. Warranty is
not allowed if the serial number on the product has been removed or the product has been altered or modified in any way, or if the
product has evidence of abuse such as impact damage, or water/chemical corrosion damage.
Improper Maintenance or Repair - This product must be maintained according to the procedures and schedules provided in the

Normal Wear - Like all mechanical devices, your unit is subject to wear even when properly maintained. This warranty does not
cover repairs when normal use has exhausted the life of a part or the equipment. Maintenance and wear items such as filters,
belts, cutting blades, and brake pads (engine brake pads are covered) are not covered by warranty due to wear characteristics
alone, unless the cause is due to defects in material or workmanship.
Stale Fuel - In order to function correctly, this product requires fresh fuel that conforms to the criteria specified in the Operator’s
Manual. Damage caused by stale fuel (carburetor leaks, clogged fuel tubes, sticking valves, etc) is not covered by warranty.

Symboly a varování
Symbol bezpečnostního varování se používá k identikaci bezpečnostních
informací o rizicích, která mohou vést k osobním poraněním. Signální slova
(NEBEZPEČÍ, VAROVÁNÍ nebo POZOR) jsou používána s varovnou značkou k
upozornění na pravděpodobnost a možnost vážnosti poškození. Značka rizika může
být navíc použita k reprezentaci typu rizika.
NEBEZPEČÍ ukazuje na riziko, které, jestliže se mu nevyvarujete,
povede ke smrti nebo vážnému poranění.
VAROVÁNÍ ukazuje na riziko, které, jestliže se mu nevyvarujete, může
vést ke smrti nebo vážnému poranění.
POZOR ukazuje na riziko, které, jestliže se mu nevyvarujete, může vést
k malému nebo střednímu poranění.
UPOZORNĚNÍ označuje situaci, v níž by mohlo dojít k poškození
produktu.
Odpovědnost majitele
VAROVÁNÍ: Tento silný žací stroj je schopný amputace rukou a nohou
a může odhazovat předměty tak, že mohou způsobit poranění a škody!
Nedodržení následujících BEZPEČNOSTNÍCH pokynů může vést
k vážným poraněním nebo smrti obsluhy či jiných osob.
Majitel stroje musí těmto pokynům rozumět a obsluhu stroje může dovolit pouze těm
osobám, které pokynům také rozumí. Každá osoba obsluhující stroj musí mít zdravé
tělo a zdravého ducha a nesmí být pod vlivem žádných látek, které by ovlivnily její
zrak, zručnost či soudnost. Jestliže máte jakékoli dotazy o tomto stroji, na které vám
nemůže uspokojivě odpovědět prodej, kontaktujte oddělení Služeb zákazníkům.
Pokyny pro bezpečnost obsluhy
Ochrana dětí
Jestliže si obsluha neuvědomí přítomnost dětí, může dojít k tragickým nehodám. Děti
jsou často přitahovány k jednotce a k její činnosti. Nikdy se nedomnívejte, že děti
zůstanou tam, kde jste je naposledy viděli.
1. Děti UDRŽUJTE mimo oblast sekání a pod pozorným dozorem zodpovědné
osoby (někoho jiného, než obsluhy).
2. Dětem NEDOVOLTE přístup namísto, kde se stroj používá, jestliže někdo
vstoupí na danou plochu, přístroj VYPNĚTE.
3. Dětem NEDOVOLTE, aby stroj obsluhovaly.
4. Obsluhu stroje POVOLTE pouze dospělým či dospívajícím dětem s vyspělým
rozmýšlením a pod dozorem dospělého.
5. Sekačku NETAHEJTE zpět kromě případů, kdy je to nezbytně nutné. Před a
během couvání se PODÍVEJTE zpět a dolů a překontrolujte pro přítomnost dětí,
zvířat a rizik.
6. Jestliže se blížíte do zatáček, kde nevidíte, ke keřům, stromům nebo jiným
předmětům, které omezují vaši viditelnost, DÁVEJTE PROSÍM ZVÝŠENÝ
POZOR.
Provoz na svahu
1. Svahy jsou důležitým faktorem při nehodách s pády, které mohou vést k
výrazným poraněním. Všechny svahy si vyžadují zvláštní pozornost. Jestliže se
na svahu cítíte nejistě, NESEKEJTE na něm.
2. Sekejte napříč svahy, ne nahoru a dolů. Buďte zvláště OPATRNÍ při změně
směru na svahu. NESEKEJTE příkré svahy (maximum 10 stupňů) nebo plochy,
kde jsou obavy o stabilitě či trakci.
3. Zvláštní pozornost věnujte při použití zachycovačů trávy či jiných doplňků; tyto
mají vliv na ovládání a stabilitu stroje.
Příprava
1. Čtěte, porozumějte a dodržujte pokyny a varování v tomto manuálu a na
sekačce, motoru a příslušenství. Před začátkem práce znejte ovladače a řádné
použití sekačky.
2. Pouze vyspělé zodpovědné osoby mohou obsluhovat tento stroj, musí předem
obdržet řádné pokyny.
3. Dostupné informace ukazují, že obsluha starší 60 let je ve více poraněních
spojených se sekačkou. Tato obsluha musí zhodnotit své schopnosti zacházet
bezpečně se sekačkou, aby sebe i jiných ochránila od vážných poranění.
4. S palivem zacházejte velice pozorně. Paliva jsou hořlavá a páry jsou výbušné.
Používejte pouze schválenou nádobu na palivo. Zátku NESUNDÁVEJTE
či palivo nepřidávejte za chodu motoru. Palivo přidávejte venku a pouze se
zastaveným a studeným motorem. Rozlité palivo a olej očistěte ze stroje.
NEKUŘTE.
5. Překontrolujte oblast, kterou budete sekat, a odstraňte všechny předměty (jako
jsou hračky, dráty, kameny a jiné), které mohou způsobit poranění, jestliže jsou
odhozeny nožem nebo ovlivní sekání. Také si povšimněte polohy jam, kořenů a
jiných možných rizik.
6. Osoby a zvířata udržujte mimo oblast sekání. Jestliže do oblasti kdokoli vstoupí,
okamžitě ZASTAVTE kosu, zastavte motor a zastavte sekačku.
7. Pravidelně kontrolujte kryty, odhrnovače, spínače a řízení kosy a jiná
bezpečnostní zařízení pro řádnou funkci a polohu.

8. Ujistěte se, že všechny bezpečnostní ukazatele jsou čitelné. Jestliže jsou
poškozené, vyměňte je.
9. Při sekání se ochraňujte a noste bezpečnostní brýle, prachovou masku, dlouhé
kalhoty a pořádné boty. NESEKEJTE naboso nebo v sandálech.
10. Při přípravě na pohotovostní situace se naučte, jak rychle ZASTAVIT kosu a
motor.
11. Při nakládání na návěs či skládání z návěsu na stroj dávejte zvláštní pozor.
12. Zachycovače trávy pravidelně kontrolujte pro známky opotřebování či poškození
a nahraďte je, aby se přešlo poranění z odhozených předmětů procházejících
slabými či opotřebovanými místy.
Bezpečné zacházení s benzínem
Aby se předešlo osobnímu poranění či poškození věcí, při zacházení s benzínem
buďte zvláště pozorní. Benzín je vysoce hořlavý a páry jsou také výbušné.
1. Uhaste všechny cigarety, doutníky, dýmky a jiné zdroje vzplanutí.
2. Používejte pouze schválenou nádobu na palivo.
3. Zátku NESUNDÁVEJTE či palivo nepřidávejte za chodu motoru. Před
doléváním paliva dovolte, aby motor vychladl.
4. Stroj NETANKUJTE uvnitř.
5. Stroj či nádobu na palivo NESKLADUJTE uvnitř, kde jsou otevřené paprsky,
jiskry či světlo pilotu jako jsou například ohřívače vody či jiná zařízení.
6. Nádoby na palivo NIKDY neplňte uvnitř vozidla či na návěsu či valníku
s platovým povrchem. Před plněním vždy nádobu umístěte na zemi pryč od
vozidla.
7. Benzínové přístroje odstraňte od vozidla či návěsu a plňte je na zemi. Jestliže to
není možné, zařízení tankujte s přenosnou nádobou namísto benzínové hadice.
8. Benzínové zařízení NESTARTUJTE v uzavřených vozidlech či návěsech.
9. Udržujte kontakt mezi nálevkou a okrajem nádrže nebo otvorem nádoby do té
doby, než je tankování ukončeno. NEPOUŽÍVEJTE uzamykatelné adaptéry.
10. Jestliže došlo k rozlití paliva na oblečení, okamžitě ho vyměňte.
11. Nádrž NEpřeplňujte. Vraťte zátku a bezpečně utáhněte.
Provoz
1. Pod rotující části či do jejich blízkosti NEDÁVEJTE ruce nebo nohy. Za chodu
motoru se pohybujte mimo dosah odhazovací plochy.
2. Motor ZASTAVTE, když budete přejíždět přes štěrk, chodníky či silnici, či za
podmínek, kdy odhazované předměty mohou znamenat nebezpečí.
3. Sekejte pouze za denního světla nebo za dobrého umělého světla.
4. S přístrojem NEzacházejte pod vlivem alkoholu nebo léků.
5. Po nárazu na cizí předmět či jestliže sekačce zní nenormálně, ZASTAVTE motor,
odpojte a zabezpečte drát svíčky. Sekačku překontrolujte pro jakékoli poškození
a před opětovným nastartováním opravte poškození.
6. NESEKEJTE poblíž výkopů, struh nebo hrází Obsluha by mohla ztratit
rovnováhu či podporu.
7. SLEDUJTE jámy a jiná ukrytá rizika. Vysoká tráva může ukrývat překážky.
Pohybujte se mimo škarpy, výmoly, ploty a vyčnívající předměty.
8. NESEKEJTE na mokré trávě Vždy si buďte jisti podkladem pod nohama. Pevně
se držte držadla a jděte, neběhejte. Uklouznutí může vést k poranění.
9. Když běží motor, VŽDY zůstaňte za držadlem.
10. NEOPOUŠTĚJTE stroj, když běží motor. Než z jakéhokoli důvodu opustíte
pozici obsluhy, ZASTAVTE KOSU a ZASTAVTE MOTOR.
11. Před čištěním, opravami a kontrolami překontrolujte, že motor, kosa a všechny
pohyblivé části se ZASTAVILY. Odpojte a zabezpečte drát svíčky směrem od
svíčky, aby se předešlo náhodnému nastartování.
12. Před odstraněním nádoby na trávu či před čištěním trávy ZASTAVTE motor a
vyčkejte, až se kosa zcela ZASTAVÍ.
13. Sekačku NEPOUŽÍVEJTE bez celého zachycovače trávy či bez upevněných

17. Motor NEZAPÍNEJTE v uzavřených oblastech. Výfukové plyny motor obsahují
oxid uhelnatý, který je jedovatý.
18. Používejte pouze doplňky schválené výrobcem. Viz. pokyny výrobce pro řádné
použití a instalaci doplňků.
Údržba a skladování
1. Sekačku či nádobu na palivo NESKLADUJTE uvnitř, kde jsou otevřené
paprsky, jiskry či startovací světla jako jsou například ohřívače vody, pece,
sušiče oblečení či jiná plynová zařízení. Před skladováním motoru v uzavřeném
prostoru vyčkejte, až motor vychladne. Nádobu na palivo skladujte mimo dosah
dětí v dobře větrané neobývané budově.
2. Sekačku udržujte bez trávy, listí či nadměrného oleje, aby se snížilo riziko požáru
a přehřátí motoru.
3. Při vypouštění nádrže palivo vypusťte venku přímo do schválené nádoby, toto
proveďte mimo otevřený oheň.
4. Veškeré šrouby, zvláště šrouby kosy, a matice udržujte řádně utažené.
Překontrolujte, že všechny závlačky jsou v řádné poloze.
5. Při provozu motoru vždy zajistěte dostatečné větrání. Výfukové plyny motor
obsahují oxid uhelnatý, který je jedovatý.
6. Úpravy motoru a servis provádějte pouze tehdy, když je motor zastavený. Ze
svíčky vyndejte drát svíčky a zajistěte ho mimo dosah svíčky, aby se předešlo
náhodnému nastartování.
7. NEměňte nastavení vedení rychlosti motoru či nadměrnou rychlost motoru.
8. Tašku na trávu pravidelně kontrolujte pro opotřebování, aby se předešlo
odhazování předmětů a vystavení pohyblivých částí. Jestliže vidíte volné spoje
či protržení, tašku vyměňte. Jestliže je rozbitý či prasklý, vyměňte posuvník či
adaptér tašky.
9. Nože sekačky jsou ostré a mohou pořezat. Při zacházení s noži je zabalte či
používejte tlusté kožené rukavice a dávejte POZOR.
10. Svíčky NETESTUJTE uzemněním svíčky vedle otvoru svíčky, svíčka by mohla
zapálit motor s vystupujícím plynem.
11. Alespoň jednou za rok stroj předejte k servisu oprávněným prodejcem,
vyžádejte si, aby také nainstaloval jakákoli nová bezpečnostní zařízení.
12. Při opravách používejte pouze náhradní díly schválené továrnou nebo podobné
díly.
Určené použití / Omezení použití
Ručně vedená sekačka je určena k sekání trávníku. Nepovoluje se žádné jiné
použití. Není určena pro sekání trávy vyšší než 15 cm či trávy promíchané s vysokým
plevelem. Sekačka je vhodná pouze pro soukromé použití v domácí zahradě. Nehodí
se pro sekání trávy ve veřejných parcích či hřištích.

Sekačka byla plně smontována v továrně. Když je sekačka vložena do krabice,
držadlo je v pozici pro skladování. K umístění držadla do provozní polohy postupujte
podle níže uvedených kroků.
1. Sekačku vyndejte z krabice.
2. Spodní držadlo (A) zvedněte do provozní polohy (Obrázek 2).
3. Držák držadla (B) má dva upevňovací otvory (Obrázek 3). Použijte otvor (C)
k upevnění držadla ve vysoké poloze. Použijte otvor (D) k upevnění držadla v
nízké poloze.
4. Držadlo připevněte k jednomu z otvorů (C) či (D) s upevněními, jako je to na
obrázku. Utáhněte knoíky (E),až bude spodní držadlo pevné.
5. Uvolněte knoíky (F) a upevnění horního držadla (G) ke spodnímu držadlu (A).
Viz obrázek 4. Horní držadlo (G) dejte do provozní polohy. Utáhněte knoíky (F),
až bude horní i dolní držadlo upevněné.
6. K upevnění provazu ručního startéru musíte nejdříve aktivovat páčku zastavení
motoru (H). Viz obrázek 5. Pomalu zatáhněte za držák ručního startéru (I) a do
vodiče 9J) vložte provaz ručního startéru.
7. Na všech modelech kabel zajistěte k držadlu s pomocí drátěného upevnění (K).

POZOR: Při skládání či zvedání držadla dávejte pozor. Nepoškozujte kabely.
Ohnutý kabel nebude správně fungovat. Před použitím jednotky vyměňte ohnuté
či poškozené kabely.

1. Vyndejte čtyři upevnění panelů (A) ze sáčků se součástkami. Viz Obrázek 7.
2. Držák konzole (B) vyrovnejte se čtyřmi upevňovacími otvory v horním držadle
(C).
3. Držák konzole (B) připojte k hornímu držadlu (C) s pomocí čtyř upevnění (A). Viz
Obrázek 8.

1. Ze sáčku se součástkami vyndejte dva malé šrouby (D). Viz Obrázek 9.
2. Otvory v ovladači plynu (E) vyrovnejte s upevňovacími otvory v držadle
konzole (B).
3. Ovladač plynu utáhněte k držadlu konzole s pomocí dvou šroubů.
4. Ze sáčku se součástkami vyndejte knoík ovládání plynu.
5. S použitím malého kladívka (F) lehce zaklepejte na knoík ovládání plynu (G) do
ramena ovládání plynu. Viz Obrázek 10.

1. Rám (A) posuňte na otevřený konec tašky na trávu (B). Viz Obrázek 11.
2. Ujistěte se, že držadlo (C) je venku mimo tašku (Obrázek 12). Klipy (D)
připevněte k rámu (E).

VAROVÁNÍ: Než začnete vyndávat jakoukoli trávu ze sekačky, odpojte
kabel svíčky a uchovejte ho z dosahu svíčky.
Některé modely mají doplňkové mulčovací připojení (A). Viz Obrázek 14. Mulčovací
připojení používejte k mulčování trávy pro čisté jemné sekání. Pro odchod trávy do
pytle na trávu sundejte mulčovací připojení.

1. Zvedněte zadní dvířka (B). Viz Obrázek 14.
2. Mulčovací připojení (A) posuňte do výstupního otvoru.

žlab, odpojte kabel svíčky a uchovejte ho z dosahu svíčky.

2. Dvě záložky (B) na straně žlabu (D) posuňte pod pivotní tyč (D).

POZOR: Motor neobsahuje olej. Než motor nastartujete, ujistěte se, že přidáte olej
podle pokynů v tomto návodu. Jestliže motor nastartujete bez oleje, dojde k jeho
nenapravitelnému poškození a na toto se nebude vztahovat záruka.
Doporučení oleje
Pro nejlepší výkon doporučujeme použití olejů schválených pro použití s výrobky
Briggs & Stratton. Přijatelné jsou i jiné kvalitní čistící oleje za předpokladu, že jsou
označené pro servis SF, SG, SH, SJ či vyšší. Nepoužívejte speciální přídavky.
Venkovní teplota určuje řádnou viskozitu pro motor. K výběru nejlepší viskozity pro
očekávanou venkovní teplotu použijte tabulku.
Syntetický 5W-30
* Při teplotách nižších než 4°C (40°F) povede použití SAE 30 k obtížnému startování.
** Použití 10W-30 při teplotách nad 27°C (80°F) může vést k větší spotřebě oleje.
Pravidelně kontrolujte množství oleje.
Jak překontrolovat či přidat olej
Před přidáním či kontrolou oleje
• Motor umístěte na rovinu.
• Plochu pro plnění oleje vyčistěte.
1. Vyndejte měrku (A) a očistěte ji čistým hadrem (Obrázek 17, 18).
2. Vložte a utáhněte měrku.
3. Měrku vyndejte a překontrolujte množství oleje. Měla by být na plném ukazateli
(B) měrky.
4. Jestliže je množství nízké, pomalu přidejte motorový olej k doplnění (C).
Nepřeplňujte. Po přidání oleje vyčkejte jednu minutu a pak množství oleje
zkontrolujte ještě jednou.
5. Vložte zpět a utáhněte měrku.
Doporučení paliva
Palivo musí splňovat tyto požadavky:
• Čistý, čerstvý, bezolovnatý benzín.
• Minimálně 87 oktanů/87 AKI (91 RON). Pro vysoké nadmořské výšky, viz
poznámka níže.
• Přijatelný je benzín až s 10% etanolu (gasohol) či až 15% MTBE
(metylterciárbutyléter).
POZOR:Nepoužívejte neschválené benzíny, jako je například E85. Do benzínu
nepřidávejte olej a motor nemodikujte tak, aby fungoval s jinými palivy. Došlo by tak k
poškození součástek motoru a porušení záruky motoru.
K ochraně palivového systému před tvorbou gumy do paliva přimíchejte stabilizátor
paliva. Viz Skladování. Různá paliva se liší. Jestliže dojde k problémům se startováním
či výkonem, změňte dodavatele či značku paliva. Tento motor je určený pro funkci na
benzín. Systém pro kontrolu emisí pro tento motor je EM (Modikace motoru).
Vysoká nadmořská výška
Při nadmořských výškách nad 1524 metrů (5000 stop) se vyžaduje benzín s minimem
85 oktanů/85 AKI (89 RON). Abyste dodržovali předpisy o emisích, vyžaduje se
úprava pro vysokou nadmořskou výšku. Provoz bez této úpravy povede ke zhoršení
výkonu, zvýšené spotřebě paliva a větším emisím. Informace o úpravě pro vysokou
nadmořskou výšku získáte od autorizovaného prodejce výrobků Briggs & Stratton.
Nedoporučuje se používání se soupravou pro vysoké nadmořské výšky při nadmořské
výšce pod 762 metrů.

Jak přidat palivo
VAROVÁNÍ
Palivo a jeho páry jsou velice hořlavé a výbušné.
Oheň či exploze mohou způsobit vážné popáleniny nebo smrt.
Při tankování:
• Vypněte motor a před odstraněním uzávěru ho nechte vychladit alespoň po
dobu 2 minut.
• Nádrž plňte venku nebo v dobře větraném prostoru.
• Palivovou nádrž nepřeplňujte. Aby se umožnila expanze paliva, netankujte
nad spodní část hrdla nádrže.
• Palivo udržujte mimo otevřený oheň, jiskry, pilotní světla, teplo nebo jiné
zdroje vzplanutí.
• Kontrolujte palivové potrubí, nádrž a uzávěr a všechny spoje na těsnost a
praskliny Jestliže je to nutné, nahraďte je novými.
• Jestliže dojde k rozlití paliva, před dalším startováním vyčkejte, než znovu ...
vyschne.
1. Plochu kolem palivového víčka očistěte od nečistot. Sundejte palivové víčko (A,
Obrázek 19, 20 a 21).
2. Palivovou nádrž (B) naplňte palivem. Aby se umožnila expanze paliva,
netankujte nad spodní část hrdla nádrže (C).
3. Palivovou zátku vraťte zpět.

Uvolněte páku zastavení motoru (A) a motor a nůž se automaticky zastaví. K
nastartování a běhu motoru držte páku zastavení motoru (A) v provozní poloze (B).
Než spustíte motor, páku zastavení motoru použijte několikrát. Překontrolujte, že se
kabel zastavení motoru volně pohybuje a že páka zastavení motoru řádně funguje.

K zastavení motoru uvolněte páku zastavení motoru (A). Odpojte drát a udržujte ho
mimo dosah svíčky, aby se předešlo startování motoru.

VAROVÁNÍ:Pro bezpečný provoz musí být systém pohonu deaktivován
okamžitě po uvolnění páky pohonu. Jestliže nedojde k řádné deaktivaci
systému pohonu, sekačku nepoužívejte do té doby, než bude upraven či
opraven schváleným servisním střediskem.
Modely s vlastním pohonem mají pohon na zadní kolo. Systém pohonu používejte
následovně.
1. Páku zastavení motoru (A) držte v provozní poloze (Obrázek 24, 25). Nastartujte
motor.
Poznámka: K zastavení motoru uvolněte páku zastavení motoru (A).
2. Páku pohonu (C) držte proti držadlu (B). Systém pohonu je aktivován a sekačka
se posune vpřed. Ke zpomalení pomalu uvolněte páku pohonu.
3. K deaktivaci pouze systému pohonu uvolněte páku pohonu (C). V neaktivní
poloze (D) se sekačka přestane pohybovat vpřed, ale motor i nadále poběží.
4. K vyřazení systému pohonu a k zastavení motoru zcela uvolněte páku zastavení
motoru (A).
Poznámka: Když je systém pohonu neaktivní na nové jednotce, je možné, aby se
zadní kolo otáčelo při zvednutí ze země. To je normální s novým řemenem a přestane
to po hodině či dvou provozu.

VAROVÁNÍ:Při běhu motoru se bude otáčet nůž.
VAROVÁNÍ
Rychlé zatažení (zpětné “kopnutí”) lanka spouštěče přitáhne ruku a paži
k motoru rychleji, než ho stačíte pustit.
Může to vést k zlomeninám, pohmožděninám či odřeninám.
• Při startování motoru za startovací kabel táhněte pomalu, až ucítíte odpor,
aby se předešlo zpětnému tlaku, pak zatáhněte rychle.
VAROVÁNÍ
Palivo a jeho páry jsou velice hořlavé a výbušné.
Oheň či exploze mohou způsobit vážné popáleniny nebo smrt.
Při startování motoru
• Ujistěte se, že svíčky, dusítko, uzávěr nádrže a ltr (kde existují) jsou na svém
místě a bezpečné.
• Nestartujte motor, je-li zapalovací svíčka vyšroubována.
• Jestliže dojde k přeplnění motoru palivem, nastavte sytič, kde existuje, do
polohy OTEVŘÍT/JET, plyn, kde existuje, přeneste do polohy RYCHLE a
startujte, až se motor nastartuje.
VAROVÁNÍ
Z motoru vychází oxid uhelnatý (bezbarvý nezapáchající otravný plyn).
Vdechování oxidu uhelnatého může vést k nevolnostem, mdlobám nebo
smrti.
• Motor spouštějte a provozujte na volném prostranství.
• Motor nespouštějte uvnitř, i když jsou otevřená okna a dveře.
Důležité: Než spustíte motor, páku zastavení motoru použijte několikrát. Překontrolujte,
že se kabel zastavení motoru volně pohybuje a že páka zastavení motoru řádně
funguje.
1. Zkontrolujte olej. Viz "Jak připravit motor".
2. Naplňte palivovou nádrž. Viz "Jak připravit motor".
3. Jestliže ho máte, zatlačte spínač zastavení (A) do zapnuté polohy (Obrázek 27,
28).
4. Ventil pro vypnutí paliva (B) otočte do zapnuté polohy.
5. Ovladač plynu přeneste do polohy rychle. Motor používejte v rychlé poloze.
6. Motory s nastřikovačem paliva: Za většiny teplotních podmínek třikrát
pevně stiskněte tlačítko nastřikovače paliva (C). Viz. Obrázek 26, 27, 29. Za
chladnějšího počasí se může vyžadovat delší použití nastřikovače paliva. Teplý
motor si normálně nastřikovač paliva nebude vyžadovat. Po každém stlačení
tlačítka nastřikovače paliva vyčkejte dvě sekundy. Poznámka: Při prvním
startování motoru stiskněte tlačítko nastřikovače paliva pětkrát.
Poznámka:Nadměrné používání nastřikovače paliva může karburátor zaplavit
palivem. Viz Motor nestartuje v části Řešení problémů.
7. Modely s vlastním pohonem: Ujistěte se, že páka pohonu (C) je vyřazena (D).
Viz Obrázek 24 a 25.
8. Postavte se za sekačkou. S použitím jedné ruky držte páku zastavení motoru
(H) v provozní poloze. Viz Obrázek 5. Druhou ruku použijte k držení držadla
manuálního startéru (I).
9. Pomalu zatáhněte držák startéru, dokud cítíte odpor, pak za něj zatáhněte rychle
k nastartování motoru. Pomalu vraťte držátko startéru.
10. Jestliže motor nenastartuje po 5 či 6 pokusech, prostudujte si část Řešení
problémů.
Před provozem sekačky
VAROVÁNÍ:Překontrolujte stav koše na trávu pro známky opotřebení
či poškození. Jestliže je poškozen, části nahraďte pouze náhradními
součástkami schválenými výrobcem.
• K úplnému naplnění koše na trávu (kde existuje) motor používejte s plným
plynem (kde existuje) v rychlé poloze.
• Ujistěte se, že koš na trávu (kde je) je řádně upevněný.
• Překontrolujte stav koše na trávu pro známky opotřebení či poškození. Jestliže
je poškozen, části nahraďte pouze náhradními součástkami schválenými
výrobcem.
Jak upravit výšku sekání
VAROVÁNÍ:Při běhu motoru se bude otáčet nůž. Než změníte výšku
sekání, odpojte kabel svíčky a uchovejte ho z dosahu svíčky.

Ke změně výšky sekání přesuňte pozici upravovacího ramene (A) u každého kola
následovně.
1. Vyřaďte upravovací rameno (A).
2. Upravovací rameno přeneste do jiné polohy.
3. Ujistěte se, že všechna upravovací ramena jsou ve stejné pozici, aby sekačku
sekala rovně.

VAROVÁNÍ:Před montáží či vyndáním koše na trávu zastavte motor.
Než začnete vyndávat jakoukoli trávu ze sekačky, odpojte kabel svíčky a
uchovejte ho z dosahu svíčky.
1. Zvedněte zadní dvířka (F). Viz Obrázek 13.
2. Držte držák (G) koše na trávu. Zvedněte kostru (H) nad pivotní tyč (I) zadních
dvířek.
3. Vyprázdněte trávu z koše na trávu (E). Viz Obrázek 33.

VAROVÁNÍ:Než začnete montovat či odstraňovat mulčovací připojení,
odpojte kabel svíčky a uchovejte ho z dosahu svíčky.
1. Pro mulčování trávy ze sekačky sundejte koš na trávu (I) a postranní výstupní
žlab (M). Viz Obrázek 1.
2. Zvedněte zadní dvířka (B) a do zadního výstupního otvoru nainstalujte mulčovací
připojení (A). Viz Obrázek 14.

POZOR: Motor nenaklánějte, když je svíčka otočena směrem dolů. Při servisu motoru
zkontrolujte nůž či vyčistěte spodní stranu krytu sekačky, ujistěte se, že motor vždy
nakláníte se svíčkou směrem nahoru. Přeprava či naklánění motor se svíčkou směrem
dolů mohou vést k následujícím
• obtížné startování
• kouř z motoru
• znečistění svíčky
• naplnění vzduchového ltru olejem či palivem
Jak čistit kryt sekačky
VAROVÁNÍ:Při běhu motoru se bude otáčet nůž. Než budete čistit kryt
sekačky, zastavte motor a odpojte kabel svíčky a udržujte ho mimo
dosah svíčky.
Jestliže se ve spodní části krytu motoru sekačky nahromadila tráva či jiný odpad,
dojde ke zhoršení výkonu. Po sekání sekačku vyčistěte následujícím způsobem.
1. Zastavte motor.
2. Odpojte drát ze svíčky.
3. Vyčistěte vršek a spodek krabice sekačky.
Jak vyndat hnací řemen
K vyndání či servisu hnacího řemenu sekačku vezměte ke schválenému servisu.

VAROVÁNÍ:Než upravíte hnací řemen, uvolněte páku zastavení motoru
a vyčkejte, až se motor zastaví.
Jestliže se systém pohonu správně nezapíná a nevypíná, překontrolujte montáž
držadla. Ujistěte se, že všechny části jsou v dobrém stavu, nerozbité či neohnuté a
všechna upevnění jsou utažená.
Opotřebované části ovlivní výkon systému pohonu. Když sekáte ve vysoké a husté
trávě či na svazích, hnací systém může klouzat, jestliže je hnací řemen příliš volný.
Jestliže hnací řemen spadne, upravte ho následujícím způsobem či ho vezměte do
servisu.
1. Jestliže hnací systém sklouzává, upravovač kabelu (A) otočte o jedno otočení
zobrazeným směrem (Obrázek 39 a 40). Spusťte sekačku a vyzkoušejte hnací
systém.
2. Jestliže hnací systém stále padá, úpravu kabelu otočte ještě jednou ke zkrácení
kabelu. Znovu vyzkoušejte hnací systém.
3. Úpravu a test opakujte to té doby, až hnací systém přestane prokluzovat.
