With the Yamaha YDS-12 Universal Dock for iPod, you can play the content stored on your iPod

through a Yamaha dock-compatible audio component. Operation and functionality depends on

your iPod model and Yamaha dock-compatible audio component. See the owner’s manuals

supplied with your Yamaha dock-compatible audio component or iPod for details.

This unit is compatible with the iPod and iPhone. References in this manual to “iPod” also apply to

the iPhone.

■ Controls and functions

■ Inserting an iPod dock adapter

Insert the iPod dock adapter supplied with your iPod into the slot of the main unit. Depending

on the type of your iPod, you may need to insert one of the iPod dock adapters supplied with

this unit. See page 1 for details about the iPod dock adapter.

1. Insert the stoppers of the iPod dock

adapter into the slits on the slot of

this unit.

2. Insert the iPod dock adapter until it

snaps into the slot of this unit.

■ Connecting the dock

1. Set the Mode switch to A (default).

If you’re using a Yamaha dock-

compatible audio component that’s

listed in the Appendix at the end of this

manual, set the Mode switch to B.

2. Connect one of the plugs of the dock

cable to the dock cable terminal of

this unit firmly.

3. Make sure the power of the dock-

compatible audio component is

turned off.

Note

Connecting the dock connection cable while

the dock-compatible audio component’s

power is on could result in damage.

4. Connect the other plug of the dock

cable to the DOCK jack of the dock-

compatible audio component.

Note

Be sure to connect the plugs of the dock

cable firmly to both the dock cable terminal

of this unit and the DOCK jack of the dock-

compatible audio component. When the

connection is loose, this unit may output

some unwanted noise.

■ Connecting your iPod

Insert the dock connector port of your iPod into the iPod connector terminal of this unit

firmly.

Refer to the owner’s manual supplied with your Yamaha dock-compatible audio component or

iPod for operating information.

Notes

• When this unit is connected with an

iPhone and placed near the Yamaha

dock-compatible audio component,

noise may occur. Place this unit away

from the Yamaha dock-compatible

audio component.

• Make sure that the output level of the

dock-compatible audio component is

set to minimum.

• To protect the dock connector from damage,

do not twist or sway back and forth your iPod

when inserting or taking it off from this unit,

and be careful not to knock over this unit

when your iPod is inserted.

• Always use the correct iPod dock adapter

(this may be the one supplied with your

iPod, one supplied with this unit, or a

commercially available adapter). Using

this unit with the wrong iPod dock adapter

may result in a poor connection and

malfunction.

• Do not take off your iPod from this unit

when you play back the music, photo, or

movie stored on your iPod with the dock-

compatible audio component.

• Connect your iPod without any other iPod

accessories (such as headphones, a wired

remote control, an FM transmitter etc.)

• It is recommended that you update your

iPod software before using it with this unit.

• If you set the Mode switch to B and insert

your iPhone, an alert message appears on

the iPhone screen. Select “No” on the

screen to proceed.

■ Disconnecting the dock cable

1. Make sure the power of the dock-

compatible audio component is

turned off.

2. Press and hold the release button

and then pull off the plug of the dock

cable.

Note

Disconnecting the dock connection cable

while the dock-compatible audio

component’s power is on could result in

damage.

■ Troubleshooting

Refer to the items listed below when this

unit does not function properly.

• Make sure the Mode switch is set

appropriately for the Yamaha dock-

compatible audio component you’ve

connected to the YDS-12.

• Connect your iPod to this unit firmly.

• Connect the dock cable to the dock-

compatible audio component firmly.

• Connect the dock cable to this unit firmly.

• Update the software of your iPod to the

latest version.

If the instructions above do not help, refer to

the instructions of your iPod or dock-

compatible audio component.

■ Connexion du dock

1. Réglez le sélecteur de mode sur “A”

(réglage par défaut).

Si vous utilisez un élément audio

Yamaha compatible avec ce dock qui

figure dans la liste donnée dans

l’appendice à la fin de ce manuel,

réglez le sélecteur de mode sur “B”.

2. Branchez à fond une des fiches du

câble de dock à la borne de cet

appareil.

3. Assurez-vous que l’élément audio

compatible avec le dock est éteint.

Remarque

La connexion du câble du dock quand le

dispositif compatible avec le dock est sous

tension peut causer des dommages.

4. Branchez l’autre fiche du câble de

dock à la borne DOCK de l’élément

audio compatible avec le dock.

Remarque

Veillez à brancher à fond les fiches du câble

de dock sur la borne correspondante de cet

appareil et sur la borne DOCK de l’élément

audio compatible avec le dock. Si la fiche est

mal branchée, du bruit peut être audible.

DOCK

■ Connexion de l’iPod

Insérez à fond l’iPod sur la borne de connexion d’iPod de cet appareil.

Voyez les modes d’emploi fournis avec votre élément audio Yamaha compatible avec le

dock et avec l’iPod pour en savoir davantage sur le fonctionnement.

Remarques

• Quand vous branchez un iPhone et

placez le dock à proximité de l’élément

audio Yamaha compatible avec le dock,

cela risque de générer du bruit.

Eloignez le dock de l’élément audio

Yamaha.

• Assurez-vous que le niveau de sortie de

l’élément audio compatible avec le

dock est réglé au minimum.

• Pour éviter d’endommager le connecteur

du dock, ne tordez pas ou ne bougez pas

vers l’avant ou l’arrière votre iPod lorsque

vous l’insérez ou le sortez de cet appareil,

et faites attention de ne pas renverser cet

appareil lorsque le iPod est inséré.

• Utilisez toujours l’adaptateur de dock conçu

pour votre iPod (il peut s’agir de l’adaptateur

de dock fourni avec votre iPod ou avec ce

dispositif, ou d’un adaptateur disponible

dans le commerce). Si vous utilisez un

adaptateur de dock non conçu pour votre

iPod, la connexion risque d’être mauvaise et

d’entraîner des dysfonctionnements.

• Ne retirez pas le iPod de cet appareil

pendant que vous écoutez de la musique

ou regardez des photos ou un film

enregistrés sur votre iPod avec un élément

audio compatible avec le dock.

• Raccordez votre iPod sans aucun autre

accessoire iPod (par exemple sans écouteurs,

télécommande à fil, émetteur FM etc.).

• Il est conseillé de mettre à jour votre

logiciel iPod avant d’utiliser cet appareil.

• Si vous réglez le sélecteur de mode sur “B”

et insérez votre iPhone, un message

d’alerte apparaît à l’écran de l’iPhone.

Sélectionnez “non” à l’écran pour

poursuivre.

■ Débranchement du câble de

dock

1. Assurez-vous que l’élément audio

compatible avec le dock est éteint.

2. Appuyez sur le bouton de libération

et relâchez-le, puis détachez la fiche

du câble de dock.

Remarque

Le débranchement du câble de liaison de

station quand l’élément audio compatible

avec le dock est sous tension peut causer des

dommages.

■ Guide de dépannage

Reportez-vous aux points suivants si cet

appareil ne fonctionne pas correctement.

• Vérifiez que le sélecteur de mode est

correctement réglé en fonction de

l’élément audio Yamaha compatible avec

le dock branché au YDS-12.

• Raccordez correctement votre iPod à cet

appareil.

• Raccordez correctement le câble de dock à

l’élément audio compatible avec le dock.

• Raccordez correctement le câble de dock à

cet appareil.

• Mettez à jour le logiciel de votre iPod en

téléchargeant la dernière version.

Si, malgré ces recommandations, votre

appareil ne fonctionne pas, reportez-vous au

mode d’emploi de votre iPod ou de

l’élément audio compatible avec le dock.
