Operating Your Remote Control
1. Press and slide the battery
cover to open the battery
compartment of the remote
control.
2. Insert two AAA size batteries
(not included). Ensure the
polarity (+ and –) ends of
the batteries match the (+)
and (–) ends indicated in the
battery compartment.
3. Close the battery
compartment cover.
Handling the Battery
• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage,
which could cause fire, personal injury or damage to property.
• Install the batteries correctly by following the polarity (+ and –) indications in
the battery compartment.
• Use only the types of the batteries which are indicated in this manual.
• Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix different types of
batteries.
• Do not dispose of the used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in
accordance with local regulations.

unit is sensitive to the remote control’s
commands up to a maximum of 5 metres

Using the Line IN Connection
Use a stereo audio cable to connect an auxiliary equipment to the main unit’s
LINE IN socket.

Connecting to the Mains Supply
• This unit is designed to operate with an AC 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz power supply.
• Unwind the mains cable to its full length. Connect the other end of the mains
cable to the DC IN Socket at the rear of the unit then connect the mains
adapter to the mains socket. Make sure the mains adapter is firmly inserted
into the mains socket. The unit is now connected and ready to use.
• To switch the unit off completely, press the ON/ OFF switch at the rear of the
unit to the OFF position or remove the mains adapter from the mains socket.

Connecting the Aerial
Connect the aerial cable (included) to the FM socket at the rear of the unit. Or
connect the aerial converter to the FM socket, then connect the wall aerial to the
aerial converter socket.

Basic Operation
Powering ON/OFF
When you first connect the unit to the mains socket, switch the ON/ OFF switch at
the rear of the unit to the ON position The unit will be in STANDBY mode.
• Press the Power
button to switch the unit on.
• Press the Power
button again to switch the unit back to standby mode.
• To switch the unit off completely, press the ON/ OFF switch at the rear of the
unit to the OFF position or remove the mains adapter from the mains socket.
Selecting Modes
Press the MODE button repeatedly to switch between DAB and FM mode.
Adjusting the Volume
• Press the buttons to adjust the volume.
• If you wish to turn the sound off, press the MUTE button. Press the MUTE
button again or press the
buttons to resume normal listening.
Automatically Setting the Date and Time
When you first turn on your radio it will automatically set the time by searching for
the DAB signal. It will continue to search for the clock whilst in DAB mode until it
has managed to set the time. If after 10 minutes the clock has not automatically
set itself try repositioning the radio to get better reception.
If the radio cannot find a DAB frequency to set the clock, you can select Update
from air by pressing and holding the CLK Set button, then press the
buttons to select. Press the Select button to confirm.
Manually Setting the Date and Time
Setting the clock can only be done in STANDBY mode.
1. In STANDBY mode, press and hold the CLK Set button until Update from
air flashes.
2. Press the
buttons to select MANUAL“ mode, then press SELECT“ on the
remote control to confirm.
3. Press the
buttons to adjust the Hour/Minute digits while flashing, then
press the Select button to confirm.
4. Press the
buttons to adjust the Year/Month/Date digits while flashing,
then press the Select button to confirm.
5. Each activated state will be cleared if any buttons are not pressed within 15
seconds.

Alarm Clock and Wake-up Mode Settings
This unit incorporates an identical Dual Alarm function. You can have two
individual alarm wake-up time and wake-up mode settings to wake you with a
buzzer tone or your favourite radio station.
Setting the alarm clock in STANDBY mode or ON mode.
1. Press and hold the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button, and then press the
buttons to select alarm beep type (OFF/Beep/DAB/FM). Press the Select
button to confirm.
•If you have selected the beep, you can press the
buttons to select
Beep type 1 or 2.
• If you have selected DAB/FM, you can press the
buttons to select a
preset station.
2. Press the
buttons to select alarm mode (Daily/Weekday/Weekend/Once).
Press the Select button to confirm.
3. The hour digits will flash. Press the
buttons to adjust the hour digits. Press
the Select button to confirm.
4. The minute digits will flash. Press the
buttons to adjust the minute digits.
Press the Select button to confirm.
5. Adjust the volume by pressing the
buttons. Then press the Select button
to confirm.
If DAB is selected and the signal is weak or unrecognized,
it will beep instead.
Sleep Function
This function allows you to programme the unit to switch off by itself after a set
period of time.
1. To activate the sleep function, press and hold the SLEEP button, and press the
buttons. Press the Select button to confirm. The time will change in the
below sequence on every press:
OFF 10 30 60 90
2. Stop pressing the button when the display shows your desired length of time.
The sleep function will be activated in 2 seconds. will show on the display.
3. When the sleep time reaches zero, the unit will turn off. To turn the sleep
function off while the sleep timer is still counting down, press and hold the
SLEEP button, and press the
buttons to select OFF. Press the Select
button to confirm and disappear from the display.

System Reset
There may be times when you need to reset your unit back to the factory settings
especially when you have moved house. If you experience reception problems
you may want to reset and try again. If you move to another part of the country
and pick up the local and national DAB stations in that area, your previously tuned
channels may no longer be available.
1. Switch on the unit and select DAB mode.
2. Press the MENU button to enter menu. Press the
buttons to select
System reset.
3. Press and hold the Select button until the display shows Restarting… and
then perform an auto-scan.
4. When the scan has finished, the radio will select and display the first
alphanumerically found station.
All of your stored DAB & FM presets will be lost once
the reset has taken place.
Software Version
• Press the MENU button to enter the menu. Press the buttons to select the
software version. The display will show the information.
• Press the MENU button again to exit.
Display Backlight
Press the MENU button to enter the menu. Press the buttons to select
Contrast, and then press the buttons to select 1 to 5 level contrast.

DAB Operation
If the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on from standby
for the first time, the unit will automatically enter into DAB mode and perform
the auto scan function. During the scan the LCD display will show Scanning …
together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the amount
of stations that have been found so far.
Once the scan has finished, the unit will select the last alphanumerically found
station. To explore the found stations, press the
buttons. When you find a
station that you would like to listen to, press the Select button.
Auto Scan Modes
There are two types of auto scan modes, one is Quick scan and the other is Full
scan. Quick scan will only search part of the DAB Band III channels and Full scan
will search the entire DAB Band III channels range. After the scan has finished, the
first alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.
Quick Scan
1. Press the Mode button repeatedly to select DAB mode.
2. Press the Scan button to start Quick Scan. A progressing slide bar will show
on the display. This takes 30 seconds to 1 minute, depending on the number
of stations found.
Full Scan
1. Press the Mode button repeatedly to select DAB mode.
2. Press and hold the Scan button to start Full Scan. A progressing slide bar will
show on the display. This takes 1 to 3 minutes depending on the number of
stations found.
All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To explore and
select listen to the found stations, press the
buttons. Press the Select button
to confirm the desired station.
If no stations are found after auto scan, “NO station
available will show on the LCD display.

Secondary Services
You may see a > symbol after the name of the station, this indicates that there
are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain
extra services that are related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may add
extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary
station in the station list.
To select the secondary station, press the Select button when the < appears in
the display before the station name. When the secondary service ends, the unit
will automatically switch back to the primary station.
Manual Tuning
As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can
help you when aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed
while auto tuning.
1. Press the Info button and then press the Select button to select Manual tune,
the display will now show Manual tune.
2. Press the the
buttons buttons to cycle through the DAB channels, which
are numbered from 5A to 13F.
3. After your desired channel number is selected, press the Select button to
enter the current multiplex, the top line will now display the first station in the
multiplex.
4. Press the
buttons and then the Select button to select a station that you
would like to listen to.
Presetting Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite stations to the memory. This will enable
you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must first be listening to the station that you would like
to save. Press and hold the 0-10 buttons to store a desired radio station.
Recalling a Stored Station
1. Once you have saved a station to one of the preset buttons, you can recall it
by pressing the 0-10 buttons.
2. If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a station, the Empty preset
#“ will be displayed.

DAB Display Modes
Every time you press the Info button, the display will cycle through the following
display modes: DLS, Multiplex Name, Channel no. / Frequency, Time/Date,
Programme Type, Audio Mode / Rate.
The information is displayed on the lower segment of the LCD display.
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic Label Segment is a scrolling
message that the broadcaster may include
with their transmissions. The message
usually includes information, such as
program details etc.
Multiplex Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio stations
that are bundled and transmitted on one
frequency. There are national and local
multiplexes. Local ones contain stations
that are specific to that area e.g. BBC World.
Channel no. / Frequency
The Channel no. and frequency of the
present station will be displayed, such as
“11C 220.352MHz.
Time/Date
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides
clock and date information automatically
so there’s no need to manually set this
information. In the unlikely event that the
broadcaster does not transmit any clock
information, the display will show the
incorrect time and date.
Programme Type
This describes the “Style” or “Genre” of
music that is being broadcast e.g. “Rock or
“Classical”.
Audio Mode / Bitrate
The display will show the audio mode
(Stereo or Mono) and the digital audio bit
rate being received.

FM Operation
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
To switch the unit to FM mode, press the Mode button repeatedly to select FM.
The LCD display will show “switch to FM”, and show the frequency.
Auto Scan
To search for an FM station, you need to press the Scan button. This will start
scanning up the frequency band. To scan down the frequency band, press and
hold the Scan button. Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop
automatically.
If no station is found, then the tuning will stop once it has cycled through the
entire FM band (87.5-108MHz).
Manual Scan
To search FM stations manually, simply press the buttons repeatedly or press
and hold until your desired frequency is reached.
With FM radio it may be necessary to fine tune each station by
pressing the
buttons repeatedly. Each press will adjust the
frequency by 0.05MHz. If reception is still poor adjust the position
of the aerial or try moving the radio to another location.
Audio Mode
Press the Select button to toggle between the Auto or Mono options.
Presetting Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite stations to the memory. This will enable
you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must first be listening to the station that you would like
to save. Press and hold the 0-10 buttons to store a desired radio station.
Recalling a Stored Station
1. Once you have saved a station to one of the preset buttons, you can recall it
by pressing the 0-10 buttons.
2. If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a station, the Empty preset
#“ will be displayed.

Programme Type
This describes the “Style” or “Genre” of
music that is being broadcast e.g. “Rock or
“Classical”.
Audio Mode / Bitrate
The display will show the audio mode
(Stereo or Mono) and the digital audio bit
rate being received.
Time/Date
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides
clock and date information automatically
so there’s no need to manually set this
information. In the unlikely event that the
broadcaster does not transmit any clock
information; the LCD display will show
<Time/Date>.
Radio Text
The broadcaster can include a scrolling text
that displays information about the current
program. If Radio text information is not
available, then the LCD display will show
<No Radio Text>.
Channel Frequency
This shows the frequency of the current
station.

Every time you press the DISPLAY/INFO button, the display will cycle through
the following display modes: Programme Type, Time/Date, Radio Text, Channel
Frequency.

Cleaning the Unit
Ensure the unit is fully unplugged from the mains
socket before cleaning.
• To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
• Do not use any cleaning fluids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.
• Do not spray an aerosol at or near the unit.
