Introduction

Congratulations on the purchase of your

new appliance. You have selected a high-

quality product. The operating instructions

are part of this product. They contain important in-

formation on safety, usage and disposal. Before

using the product, familiarise yourself with all handling

and safety guidelines. Use the product only as de-

scribed and for the range of applications speciﬁed.

Please also pass these operating instructions on to

any future owner(s).

Intended use

This compressed air-powered random orbital sander

is suitable for sanding, polishing and for the prep-

aration of various surfaces. Any other usage of or

modiﬁcation to the appliance is deemed to be im-

proper and carries a signiﬁcant risk of accidents.

The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for dam-

age(s) resulting from improper usage. This appliance

in intended only for domestic use.

WARNING!

► The noise emission levels speciﬁed in these in-

structions have been measured in accordance

with the standardised measuring procedure

speciﬁed in ISO 15744 and can be used to

make equipment comparisons. The noise emis-

sion values vary in accordance with the use

of the compressed air tool and may be higher

than the values speciﬁed in these instructions

in some cases. It is easy to underestimate the

noise emission load if the compressed air tool

is used regularly in a certain manner.

NOTE

► For an accurate estimate of the noise emission

load during a certain working period, the

times during which the appliance is switched

oﬀ or is running but not actually being used

must also be taken into consideration. This

can signiﬁcantly reduce the noise emission

load over the total working period.

General safety instruc-

tions for compressed

air tools

WARNING!

► For multiple hazards: Please ensure that you

have read and understood the safety instruc-

tions before adjusting, operating, repairing,

maintaining or replacement of accessories

on the sander or polisher as well as before

working in the vicinity of the machine. Failure

to do this can result in serious bodily injury.

■ The sander or polisher should only be adjusted, set or

used by adequately qualiﬁed and trained operators.

■ This sander or polisher may not be modiﬁed. Mod-

iﬁcations can reduce the eﬀectiveness of the safety

measures and increase the risks for the operator.

■ Do not use a sander or polisher if the tool has

been damaged.

■ The appliance must be inspected regularly to

ensure that it is labelled with the required rated

values and markings given in this manual. The

user must contact the manufacturer to obtain

replacement labels if necessary.

Save all warnings and safety instructions

for future reference.

The safety instructions should not be lost –

give them to the operator.

Hazards caused by ﬂying parts

■ If a workpiece or accessory or even part of the

machine tool itself breaks, parts can be ﬂung

out at high speeds.

■ When operating the sander or polisher or when

exchanging accessories on the appliance,

always wear eye protection. The degree of nec-

essary protection must be evaluated separately

for each individual task.

■ Wear a safety helmet if working above head

height. In this case, the risks for others should

also be assessed.

■ You must ensure that the workpiece has been

securely ﬁxed.

■ Ensure that the sparks generated during use

cannot cause any hazards.

■ Disconnect the grinder from the power supply

before replacing the grinding material and

before carrying out maintenance work.

■ In this case, the risks for others should also be

assessed.

Hazards caused by entanglement

■ Suﬀocation, scalping or and/or cut wounds

can occur if loose clothing, jewellery, necklaces,

hair or gloves are not kept away from the

machine and its accessories.

Hazards during operation

■ When using the machine, the operator's hands can

be subject to hazards such as cuts, grazing and

heat. Wear suitable gloves to protect your hands.

■ The operator and maintenance personnel must

be physically capable of handling the size, mass

and power of the machine.

■ Hold the machine correctly: be ready to counter-

act any normal or sudden movements - have

both hands ready.

■ Ensure that your body is balanced and that you

have a secure standing position.

■ Release the start/stop control in case of a disrup-

tion to the electricity supply.

■ Use only lubricants recommended by the

manufacturer.

■ Suitable safety goggles must be worn; wearing

of protective gloves and safety clothing is

recommended.

■ Check the grinding disc before every use. Do

not use if this is cracked, broken or has been

dropped.

■

Avoid direct contact with the movable

grinding disc to avoid squashing or cutting

your hands or other parts of the body.

Always wear suitable gloves to protect

your hands.

■ Never use the machine without an abrasive

attachment.

■ There is a risk of electrostatic discharge if the

machine is used on plastic and other non-con-

ductive materials.

■ Dust and vapours created by the grinding and

sanding can cause a potentially explosive

atmosphere. Always use a dust extraction or

suppression system suitable for the material

being worked.

Risks due to repetitive movements

■ When using a sander or polisher to perform

work-related activities, operators may experi-

ence uncomfortable sensations in their hands

and arms, as well as in the neck and shoulders

or other parts of the body.

■ When using a sander or polisher, the opera-

tor should adopt a comfortable posture whilst

ensuring a secure hold and avoiding awkward

postures or positions in which it is diﬃcult to

maintain balance. The operator should change

positions during the course of long-lasting tasks.

This can be helpful in the prevention of discom-

fort and fatigue.

■ If the operator notices symptoms such as persist-

ent or recurring illness, discomfort, throbbing,

pain, tingling, burning or stiﬀness, these indications

should not be ignored. In this case, the operator

should consult a suitably qualiﬁed physician.

Hazards caused by accessories

■ Disconnect the sander or polisher from the

power before changing the tools or accessories.

■ Use only accessories and supplies of the sizes

and types recommended by the manufacturer

of the sander or polisher.

■ Cutting discs and machines for cutting may not

be used.

■ Avoid direct contact with the machine tool during

and after use, since this can have heated up or

have become sharp.

■ The maximum operating speed recommended

by the sander manufacturer must be equal to

the rated speed given on the machine or higher.

■ Self-adhesive grinding discs must be applied

concentrically on the mounting plate.

Hazards in the workplace

■ Keep your working area clean and well lit.

Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.

■ Slipping, tripping up and falling are the main

causes of injuries at the workplace. Take note

of surfaces which could have become slippery

through use of the machine, and also any trip-

ping hazards caused by air or hydraulic hoses.

■ Proceed with caution in unknown surroundings.

Hidden hazards caused by power or other supply

lines may be present.

■ Do not work with the compressed air tool in

areas subject to the risk of explosions, or in

areas where ﬂammable liquids, gases or dusts

are located. Grinding work creates sparks which

may ignite the dust or fumes.

■ Keep children and other unauthorised person-

nel at a safe distance when using compressed

air tools. Distractions can cause you to lose

control over the appliance.

■ The grinder is not insulated against electrical

power sources.

■ Ensure that there are no electrical cables, gas

pipes, etc., which can cause a hazard if damaged

by use of the tool.

Risks due to dust and vapours

■ The dust and vapours produced by using the

sander or polisher can be hazardous to health

(e.g. cause cancer, birth defects, asthma and/

or dermatitis); it is essential to carry out a risk as-

sessment in respect of these risks and to imple-

ment corresponding regulatory mechanisms.

■ The risk assessment should include all dust

caused by the use of the machine and any exist-

ing dust that may be whirled up at the same time.

■ The sander or polisher is to be operated and

maintained in accordance with the recommen-

dations contained in this manual to keep the

release of dust and vapours to a minimum.

■ The exhaust air should be routed so that the

raising of dust in already dusty environments

is kept to a minimum.

■ If dusts or vapours are created, the main priority

must be to control these at the site of their release.

■ All inserts or accessories of the machine in-

tended for collecting, extracting or suppressing

airborne dust or vapours or should be used and

serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s

instructions.

■ Consumables/machine tools should be selected,

maintained and replaced in accordance with

the recommendations in this guide in order to

avoid unnecessary intensiﬁcation of dust or

vapour production.

■ Use breathing equipment as per the instructions

provided by your employer or as required by

health and safety regulations.

Risks due to noise

■ Excessive noise levels in conjunction with insuﬃ-

cient hearing protection may lead to permanent

hearing damage, hearing loss and other prob-

lems, such as tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, whistling

or humming in your ears). Therefore it is essential

that a risk assessment is carried out with respect

to these risks and that appropriate regulatory

mechanisms are implemented.

■ Suitable regulatory mechanisms include measures

such as the use of insulation materials to avoid

pinging occurring on the workpieces.

■ Use ear protection equipment as per the instruc-

tions provided by your employer or as required

by health and safety regulations.

■ The sander or polisher is to be operated and

maintained in accordance with the recommen-

dations contained in this manual to reduce any

unnecessary increase of the noise levels.

■ Consumables/machine tools should be selected,

maintained and replaced in accordance with

the recommendations in this guide in order to

avoid unnecessary increase of the noise levels.

■ If the sander or polisher is equipped with a

silencer, always ensure that this in its place and

is operational while the machine is in operation.

Risks due to vibrations

■ Vibrations can damage the nerves and cause

malfunctions to the blood circulation in the

hands and arms.

■ When working in a cold environment, wear warm

clothing and keep your hands warm and dry.

■ If you notice numbness, tingling or pain in your

ﬁngers or hands or notice that the skin of your

ﬁngers or hands has become pale, stop working

with the sander or polisher and consult a doctor.

■ The sander or polisher is to be operated and

maintained in accordance with the recommen-

dations contained in this manual to reduce any

unnecessary increase of the vibrations.

■ Hold the machine securely but not too ﬁrmly

while maintaining the necessary hand-reaction

force, as the vibration risk generally increases

the harder the machine is held.

Additional safety instructions for

pneumatic machines

■ Compressed air can cause serious injury.

Ensure that the air supply is switched oﬀ, the

hose is not under pressure and that the machine

is disconnected from the air supply when not

in us, and also before exchanging accessories

or carrying out repairs. Never aim the airﬂow

towards yourself or any other person.

■ Thrashing hoses can cause serious injury.

Therefore, always check that the hoses and their

ﬁxings are not damaged or have not come loose.

■ If universal rotary joints (claw couplings) are

used, locking pins must be used to provide pro-

tection; Whipchek

air hose restraints must be

used to provide protection in case of a failure

of the connection of the hose to the machine.

■ Ensure that the maximum permissible pressure

stated on the machine is not exceeded.

■ Never carry compressed-air-powered machines

by the hose.

Special safety instructions

■ Always wear eye protection when using

or maintaining the sander.

■ Always wear suitable protective clothing.

Protect your hands, hair and clothes from being

drawn in by rotating parts.

■

Always wear a dust mask in situations in

which large amounts of dust are being

generated.

■ Always wear hearing protection.

■

Always wear protective gloves.

■ Only connect the sander to the compressed air

network when it is switched oﬀ.

■ Sparks are created during grinding. Ensure that

nobody can be endangered by ﬂying sparks.

You should also remove any ﬂammable materials

or objects.

■ Do not carry the grinder if it has been connected

to the compressed air hose.

■ Be aware of the danger caused by a ﬂailing

compressed air hose!

■ The grinder is not approved for use with cutting discs!

■ The ﬂow pressure of 6.3 bar may not be

exceeded during operation.

■ Never use oxygen or other ﬂammable gases as

an energy source.

■ Switch the appliance on before applying it to the

workpiece. After completing the task, lift the ap-

pliance from the workpiece and then switch it oﬀ.

■ Once you have completed your work, switch

the grinder oﬀ and place it down securely once

it has come to a standstill.

Caution! Grinder continues to run.

■ Once you have completed your work, disconnect

the grinder from the compressed air supply.

■ Be aware that when processing certain materials

there is a danger that dust and vapours can arise

that could create an explosive atmosphere.

Use vacuum cleaners and suitable protective

equipment.

Before initial operation

NOTE

► The grinder may only be operated on cleaned,

oil-atomised compressed air and may not

exceed the maximum operating pressure of

6.3 bar at the appliance. The compressor

must be ﬁtted with a pressure reducer to

regulate the working pressure.

► Wind the Teﬂon tape

supplied around all

threaded connectors.

Fitting the connector nipple

♦ Remove the plastic protective cap from the

appliance’s air inlet.

♦ Wrap the threads on the connector nipple

with the Teﬂon tape supplied.

♦ Screw the connector nipple

into the air inlet.

Fitting the grinding disc

The compressed air-powered random orbital

sander is equipped with a protective cuﬀ .

■

Rotation direction indicator of the

♦ To ﬁt or replace the grinding disc

invert the

protective cuﬀ (see Fig. 1).

WARNING!

► Never operate the compressed air-powered

random orbital sander without the protective

cuﬀ

► Never operate the compressed air-powered

random orbital sander with an inverted

protective cuﬀ .

► A damaged protective cuﬀ should be

replaced immediately.

♦ Turn the spindle lock with the knurled bulge

towards the ﬂat side of the eccentric spindle

(see Fig. 2).

♦ Remove the protective cap from the threaded

rod of the grinding disc

and screw it clock-

wise into the eccentric spindle as far as the

stop.

♦ Undo the spindle lock

so that the eccentric

spindle

can turn freely on its own axis.

CAUTION!

► Never operate the compressed air-powered

random orbital sander with a locked drive

spindle. This is dangerous and can result in

serious injuries.

Selecting a sandpaper disc

Erosion and surface:

The material removal rate and surface quality are

determined by the grain strength of the sandpaper.

■ Please note that you can use sandpapers with

various grain sizes for working the diﬀerent

materials.

Fitting the sandpaper disc

CAUTION!

► Ensure that the appliance is disconnected from

the compressed air source before you ﬁt or

remove a sandpaper disc

♦ The grinding disc

and the supplied sandpaper

discs are equipped with matching Velcro

fasteners.

♦ Select the sandpaper disc

with the desired

grain and press it onto the grinding disc .

Ensure that it is centred.

♦ To change the sandpaper disc

, lift it from the

side and pull it oﬀ the grinding disc .

Clean the grinding disc as required with

compressed air.

Lubrication

NOTE

► To avoid friction and corrosion damage,

regular lubrication is particularly important.

We recommend using a suitable special oil

for compressed air appliances (e.g. Liqui

Moly compressor oil).

– Lubrication with mist oiler:

A mist oiler (not supplied) continuously

and optimally lubricates the appliance as

a preparation stage after the pressure re-

ducer. A mist oiler gives oﬀ ﬁne drops of

oil into the air ﬂow and thus guarantees

a regular lubrication.

– Manual lubrication:

If you do not have a mist oiler, lubricate

the appliance before every use or longer

work sessions by dripping 3–4 drops of

special oil for compressed air appliances

into the connector nipple

Reﬁlling oil

To ensure that the compressed air-powered random

orbital sander remains operational for as long as

possible, make sure that there is suﬃcient pneu-

matic oil in the appliance.

The following options are available:

♦ Attach a maintenance unit with an oiler to the

compressor.

♦ Install a ﬁtted oiler into the compressed air line

or the compressor.

Add 3–5 drops of pneumatic oil into the

connector nipple

every 15 minutes of

operation.

Connecting to a compressed air source

NOTE

► Before connecting the compressed air source

– the correct working pressure (3–6 bar)

must be fully reached

– make sure that the trigger is in the upper

position

♦ Attach the appliance to a compressor by con-

necting the connector nipple

with the supply

hose of the compressed air source.

♦ To ensure that you can regulate the air pressure,

the compressed air source must be equipped

with a pressure reducer.

Handling

Switching on and oﬀ

Switching on:

♦ First press the locking mechanism forwards and

then the trigger to switch the appliance on.

Switching oﬀ:

♦ Let go of the trigger

♦ When you have ﬁnished working, disconnect

the appliance from the compressed air source.

Regulation of vibration output

■ Use the speed controller to control the air-

ﬂow and thus the vibration output (also during

operation).

■

The ideal speed depends on the material being

worked and can be determined through practical

tests.

Use the pressure reducer to set the correct working

pressure. Operate the appliance at a working pres-

sure of 6.3 bar.

Sanding

♦ Switch on the compressed air source and allow

it to run until the maximum tank pressure has

been reached.

♦ Use the pressure reducer on the compressed

air source to set the optimum working pressure.

Note that the maximum working pressure may

not be exceeded. An excessive working pressure

does not mean increased output; it merely in-

creases the air consumption and accelerates

appliance wear. Always comply with the techni-

cal information.

♦ Switch on the compressed air-powered random

orbital sander.

♦ Allow the device to reach the required speed

and adjust as necessary.

♦ Guide the compressed air-powered random

orbital sander parallel onto the workpiece.

♦ Move the appliance parallel and in ﬂat circles

or alternatively lengthwise and across the sur-

face. Use the housing

as a handle to guide

the appliance in the desired direction.

♦ Do not press the compressed air-powered ran-

dom orbital sander down. Pressing down hard

does not increase the working eﬃciency!

♦ When you have ﬁnished working, let go of the

trigger

to switch oﬀ the appliance.

♦ When you have ﬁnished working, disconnect

the appliance from the compressed air source.

CAUTION!

► Sanding creates dust. Always wear protective

gloves, a suitable mask and clean the sand-

paper and workpiece at regular intervals with

a vacuum cleaner or compressed air.

► Suitable safety precautions must be taken

depending on the size and nature of the

workpiece. Use suitable clamping devices

to prevent the workpiece from slipping.

► In the event of an interruption to the air

supply, release the trigger

immediately.

Optimal working procedures

The most important thing to remember when sanding

is to use successively ﬁner grained paper. With a

coarse grain, the surface will not become smooth,

but rather rougher. If the grain is too ﬁne, you will

hardly achieve any noticeable result.

The material removal rate is determined by the

speed and grain size of the sandpaper.

The sandpaper used should be appropriate to the

substance being worked and the amount of material

to be removed.

Maintenance and cleaning

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!

Disconnect the appliance from the

compressed air supply.

CAUTION!

► Before maintenance, clean oﬀ any hazardous

substances that may (due to working pro-

cesses) have accumulated on the appliance.

Avoid all skin contact with these substances.

If the skin comes into contact with hazardous

dusts, this can lead to severe dermatitis. If

dust is produced or swirled up during mainte-

nance, it can be inhaled.

NOTE

To ensure correct functioning and long-term

durability of the sander, pay attention to the

following points:

■ Suﬃcient and continuously intact oil lubrication

is highly important for optimum functioning.

■ Check the speed and vibration levels after each

use.

■ Check the idle speed regularly and after any

maintenance is performed:

use a rev counter and perform the measurement

without any clamped tools. The idle speed may

not be exceeded under any circumstances at a

residual pressure of 6.3 bar.

■ If the appliance is exhibiting excessive vibration

levels, the cause of the vibrations must be identi-

ﬁed and repaired.

■ Use only the genuine replacement parts recom-

mended by the manufacturer, otherwise you

could put users at danger. In doubt, contact the

Service Centre.

■ Check the grinding disc

regularly for damage.

■ Clean the appliance with a soft, dry cloth only.

■ Never use sharp or scratchy cleaning agents

under any circumstances.

Disposal

The packaging consists of environmentally

friendly material. It can be disposed of in

the local recycling containers.

You are provided a 3-year warranty on this

appliance, valid from the date of purchase.

This appliance has been manufactured with

care and inspected meticulously prior to

delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof

of purchase. In the event of a warranty claim,

please contact your Customer Service unit by

telephone. This is the only way to guarantee

free return of your goods.

The warranty only covers claims for material and

manufacturing defects, not for damage sustained

during carriage, components subject to wear and

tear or damage to fragile components such as

switches or rechargeable batteries. This appliance

is intended solely for private use and not for com-

mercial purposes. The warranty shall be deemed

void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use

of force and interventions which have not been

carried out by one of our authorised Service centres.

Your statutory rights are not restricted by this war-

ranty. The warranty period is not prolonged by

repairs eﬀected under the warranty. This also applies

to replaced and repaired components. Any damage

and defects present at the time of purchase must be

reported immediately after unpacking, but no later

than two days after the date of purchase. Repairs

carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall

be subject to charge.

Johdanto

Onnittelut uuden laitteen hankinnasta. Olet

valinnut laadukkaan tuotteen. Käyttöohje

on osa tätä tuotetta. Se sisältää turvalli-

suutta, käyttöä ja hävittämistä koskevia tärkeitä

ohjeita. Tutustu ennen tuotteen käyttöä kaikkiin

käyttö- ja turvallisuusohjeisiin. Käytä tuotetta vain

kuvatulla tavalla ja vain mainittuihin käyttötarkoituk-

siin. Kun luovutat tuotteen eteenpäin, liitä mukaan

kaikki tuotetta koskevat asiakirjat.

Määräystenmukainen käyttö

Paineilmakäyttöinen epäkeskohiomakone on tar-

koitettu erilaisten pintojen hiontaan, kiillotukseen ja

valmisteluun. Laitteen muu käyttö tai muuttaminen

on määräystenvastaista ja siihen liittyy huomattava

tapaturmariski. Emme vastaa määräystenvastaisesta

VAROITUS!

► Näissä ohjeissa ilmoitetut melurasitusarvot on

mitattu standardissa ISO 15744 normitetulla

mittausmenetelmällä ja niitä voidaan käyttää

laitevertailuun. Melurasitusarvot vaihtelevat

paineilmatyökalun käytön mukaan ja saatta-

vat joissain tapauksissa ylittää tässä ohjeessa

mainitut arvot. Melurasitusta saatetaan

aliarvioida, jos paineilmatyökalua käytetään

säännöllisesti tällaisella tavalla.

► Melurasituksen tarkka arvioiminen tietyn työ-

ajan kuluessa edellyttää myös niiden aikojen

huomioimista, jolloin laite on sammutettuna

tai käynnissä, mutta ei käytössä. Tämä saat-

taa vähentää merkittävästi kokonaistyöskente-

lyajan melurasitusta.

VAROITUS!

► Laitteen käyttöön liittyy useita vaaratekijöitä:

Turvallisuusohjeet on luettava ja ymmärret-

tävä ennen hiomapaperin kanssa työstävän

hiomakoneen tai kiillotuskoneen varustamista,

käyttöä, korjausta, huoltoa ja lisävarusteiden

vaihtoa sekä koneen lähellä tehtäviä töitä.

Turvallisuusohjeiden noudattamatta jättämi-

nen voi aiheuttaa vakavia vammoja.

■ Hiomapaperin kanssa työstävän hiomakoneen

tai kiillotuskoneen varustaminen, säätäminen ja

käyttäminen on jätettävä yksinomaan ammatti-

taitoisten ja koulutettujen henkilöiden tehtäväksi.

■ Tähän hiomapaperin kanssa työstävään hioma-

koneeseen tai tähän kiillotuskoneeseen ei saa

tehdä muutoksia. Muutokset voivat vähentää

turvallisuustoimien tehokkuutta ja lisätä laitetta

käyttäville henkilöille aiheutuvaa vaaraa.

■ Älä koskaan käytä viallista hiomapaperin kanssa

työstävää hiomakonetta tai kiillotuskonetta.

■ Laite on tarkistettava säännöllisesti, jotta varmis-

tetaan, että laitteen nimellisarvot ja merkinnät

ovat tämän käyttöohjeen mukaisia. Käyttäjä

voi pyytää tarvittaessa uusia merkintäkilpiä

valmistajalta.

Säilytä kaikki turvallisuusohjeet ja muut

ohjeet myöhempää käyttöä varten.

Turvallisuusohjeet on säilytettävä tallessa,

anna ne laitetta käyttävälle henkilölle.

Sinkoutuvista osista aiheutuvat

vaarat

■ Työkalun, lisäosien tai jopa itse hiomatyökalun

rikkoutuessa laitteesta voi singota osia suurella

nopeudella.

■ Käytä siksi aina iskunkestäviä suojalaseja, kun

käytät hiomapaperin kanssa työstävää hiomako-

netta tai kiillotuskonetta tai vaihdat koneeseen

lisäosia. Tarvittava suoja on arvioitava kussakin

käyttötarkoituksessa erikseen.

■ Pään yläpuolella olevia kohteita työstettäessä

on käytettävä suojakypärää. Tällöin on arvioitava

myös muille henkilöille mahdollisesti aiheutuvat

vaarat.

■ Varmista, että työkalu on kiinnitetty kunnolla.

■ Varmista, ettei työstössä syntyvistä kipinöistä

aiheudu vaaraa.

■ Irrota hiomakone sähköverkosta, ennen kuin

vaihdat hiomavälineitä tai huollat laitetta.

■ Tällöin on arvioitava myös muille henkilöille

mahdollisesti aiheutuvat vaarat.

Kiinnitarttumisesta aiheutuvat vaarat

■ Pitkät hiukset ja löysien vaatteiden, korujen, kau-

laketjujen ja käsineiden käyttö koneen lähellä

voi aiheuttaa tukehtumisen, skalpeerauksen tai

viiltovammojen vaaran.

Käytöstä aiheutuvat vaarat

■ Koneen käytön aikana käyttäjän kädet ovat

alttiina vaaratekijöille, kuten esim. viiltovammoil-

le, hankaumille ja kuumuudelle. Käytä käsien

suojana sopivia käsineitä.

■ Koneen käyttäjien ja huoltohenkilöstön fyysisen

kunnon on oltava riittävä laitteen kokoa, painoa

ja tehoa ajatellen.

■ Pidä laitetta oikein kädessä: Valmistaudu sekä

laitteen tavallisten että yllättävien liikkeiden

hallitsemiseen – pidä molemmat kädet toimin-

tavalmiina.

■ Varmista, että vartalosi on tasapainossa ja

seisot tukevasti paikoillasi.

■ Aktivoi käynnistystä ja pysäytystä ohjaava laite,

jos sähkönsyöttö keskeytyy.

■ Käytä vain valmistajan suosittelemia voiteluai-

neita.

■

Käytä suojalaseja; suojakäsineiden ja

-vaatetuksen käyttö on suositeltavaa.

■ Tarkista hiontalaikka ennen jokaista käyttöä.

Älä käytä sitä, jos siinä on murtumia tai se on

haljennut tai pudonnut.

■ Vältä suoraa kosketusta pyöriviin hiontalaikkoi-

hin käsien tai muiden kehonosien puristumisen

tai viiltovammojen syntymisen ehkäisemiseksi.

Käytä soveltuvia suojakäsineitä käsien suojana.

■ Älä koskaan käytä laitetta ilman hiomavälinettä.

■ Jos laitteella hiotaan muovia tai muita sähköä

johtamattomia materiaaleja, on olemassa

sähköstaattisen purkauksen vaara.

■ Hionnassa syntyvä pöly ja höyryt voivat saada

aikaan räjähdysvaarallisen ympäristön. Käytä

aina työstettävälle materiaalille soveltuvaa

pölynpoisto- tai tukahdutuslaitteistoa.

Toistuvasta liikkeestä aiheutuvat

vaarat

■ Hiomapaperin kanssa työstävän hiomakoneen

tai kiillotuskoneen käytössä käyttäjä saattaa

työstön aikana tuntea epämiellyttävää tunnetta

käsissä ja käsivarsissa, kaulassa ja olkapäillä tai

muissa ruumiinosissa.

■ Hiomapaperin kanssa työstävän hiomakoneen

tai kiillotuskoneen käytössä käyttäjän tulisi

huomioida mukava asento, seisoa tukevasti pai-

koillaan ja välttää epämiellyttäviä asentoja sekä

sellaisia asentoja, joissa tasapainon säilyttämi-

nen on vaikeaa. Käyttäjän tulisi pitkään jatkuvan

työstön aikana muuttaa asentoa epämukavan

olon ja väsymyksen välttämiseksi.

■ Jos käyttäjällä ilmenee esim. jatkuvaa tai ajoit-

taista pahoinvointia, vaivoja, pamppailua, kipua,

pistelyä, tunnottomuutta, polttavaa tunnetta tai

jäykkyyttä, oireet on otettava vakavasti.

Käyttäjän on otettava tässä tapauksessa yhteys

lääkäriin.

Lisävarusteista aiheutuvat vaarat

■ Irrota hiomapaperin kanssa työstävä hiomakone

tai kiillotuskone sähköverkosta, ennen kuin

vaihdat työkaluja tai lisävarusteita.

■ Käytä vain hiomapaperin kanssa työstävän

hiomakoneen tai kiillotuskoneen valmistajan

suositteleman kokoisia ja tyyppisiä lisävarusteita

ja käyttötarvikkeita.

■ Katkaisulaikkojen ja katkaisuun tarkoitettujen

koneiden käyttö on kielletty.

■ Vältä käytön aikana ja sen jälkeen suoraa kos-

ketusta työkaluun, sillä se saattaa olla kuuma

tai teräväreunainen.

■ Hiomapaperin kanssa työstävän hiomakoneen

valmistajan suositteleman maksimikierrosluvun

on vastattava vähintään koneessa ilmoitettua

nimelliskierroslukua.

■ Tarkista, että itsekiinnittyvät hiomapaperikiekot

kiinnitetään keskelle kiinnityslaikkaa.

Vaarat työpaikalla

■ Pidä työskentelyalue puhtaana ja huolehdi

hyvästä valaistuksesta. Epäjärjestys ja valaise-

mattomat työskentelyalueet saattavat johtaa

onnettomuuksiin.

■ Liukastuminen, kompastuminen ja kaatuminen

ovat yleisimpiä syitä työpaikalla loukkaan-

tumisiin. Huomioi laitteen käytöstä liukkaaksi

tulleet pinnat ja mahdolliset vaaratilanteet, jotka

aiheutuvat ilma- ja hydrauliletkuihin kompastu-

misista.

■ Toimi varovasti vieraissa työympäristöissä.

Sähköjohdot tai muut johdot saattavat aiheuttaa

piileviä vaaratilanteita.

■ Älä käytä paineilmatyökalua räjähdysalttiissa

ympäristöissä, joissa on helposti syttyviä nes-

teitä tai kaasuja tai pölyjä. Hiottaessa syntyy

kipinöintiä, joka voi sytyttää pölyn tai höyryt.

■ Pidä lapset ja muut henkilöt poissa paineil-

matyökalun lähettyviltä työskentelyn aikana.

Voit helposti menettää laitteen hallinnan, jos

työskentelysi häiriintyy.

■ Hiomakonetta ei ole eristetty sähkövoimaläh-

teiltä.

■ Varmista, että työpaikalla ei ole esim. sähkö-

johtoja tai kaasuputkia, jotka koneen käytön

seurauksena voisivat vaurioitua ja johtaa

vaaratilanteeseen.

Pölystä ja höyryistä aiheutuvat

vaarat

■ Hiomapaperin kanssa työstävien hiomakoneiden

tai kiillotuskoneiden käytössä syntyvä pöly ja

höyryt voivat aiheuttaa sairauksia (esim. syöpää,

synnynnäisiä sairauksia, astmaa ja/tai ihotuleh-

duksen); siksi on välttämätöntä suorittaa riskien

arviointi ja toteuttaa tarvittavat suojatoimet.

■ Riskien arvioinnissa on otettava huomioon sekä

koneen käytössä syntyvät pölyt että sen mahdol-

lisesti ilmaan lennättämät pölyhiukkaset.

■ Hiomapaperin kanssa työstävää hiomakonetta

tai kiillotuskonetta tulee käyttää ja huoltaa tämän

käyttöohjeen suositusten mukaisesti, jotta pölyn

ja höyryjen syntyminen voidaan vähentää

minimiin.

■ Poistoilma tulee johtaa niin, että pölyn lentäminen

pölyisessä ympäristössä voidaan vähentää mini-

miin.

■ Jos koneen käytössä syntyy pölyä ja höyryjä,

tärkeintä on hallita niitä niiden syntypaikassa.

■ Kaikkia koneeseen asennettuja lentopölyn tai

höyryjen talteenottoon, imuun tai ehkäisyyn

tarkoitettuja osia ja lisävarusteita on käytettävä

ja huollettava valmistajan ohjeiden mukaisesti.

■ Käyttötarvikkeet/työkalut on valittava, huollet-

tava ja korvattava uusilla tämän käyttöohjeen

suositusten mukaisesti, jotta pölyn ja höyryjen

tarpeeton lisääntyminen voidaan välttää.

■ Käytä hengityssuojainta työnantajan ohjeiden

tai työsuojelu- ja terveyssuojamääräysten

mukaisesti.

Melusta aiheutuvat vaarat

■ Korkea melutaso saattaa ilman riittäviä kuulo-

suojaimia johtaa pysyvään kuulon heikentymi-

seen, kuulon menetykseen tai muihin ongelmiin,

kuten esim. tinnitukseen (korvien soimiseen,

huminaan tai suhinaan), ja siksi on välttämätön-

tä suorittaa näitä vaaroja koskeva riskiarviointi

ja toteuttaa vaadittavat suojatoimet.

■ Vaarojen syntyriskiä voidaan vähentää sopivilla

suojatoimilla, esim. käyttämällä eristysmateriaa-

lia, joka estää työkappaleista syntyvät äänet.

■ Käytä työantajan ohjeistamia tai työsuojelu- ja

terveyssuojamääräysten mukaisia kuulosuo-

jaimia.

■ Hiomapaperin kanssa työstävää hiomakonetta

tai kiillotuskonetta on käytettävä ja huollettava

käyttöohjeen suositusten mukaisesti melutason

tahattoman nousun välttämiseksi.

■ Käyttötarvikkeet/työkalut on valittava, huolletta-

va ja korvattava uusilla käyttöohjeen suositus-

ten mukaisesti melutason tahattoman nousun

välttämiseksi.

■ Jos hiomapaperin kanssa työstävässä hiomako-

neessa tai kiillotuskoneessa on äänenvaimennin,

varmista aina, että se on asetettu paikalleen ja

toimintakuntoinen, kun konetta käytetään.
